I have a Compaq Prolinea 466 (486DX2). It’s one that has the bios stored on a partition on the Hard Drive. I don’t have the original HD and need to create this partition. I believe I have tried the right softpaq to create this, in fact I’ve tried two that should work and I get the same error on both. I have a 2.1GB HD that DOS formatted for me no problem. The error message is in the pic below, it says there is not enough space on the hard disk for the diagnostic partition. I feel like I must be missing something somewhere. Any ideas? I’ve used sp4711 and sp1363. Same error for both.

The Prolinea is awesome though, I have it working without the bios partition for now, has the PCI slot with integrated PCI CL-GD5434, runs duke nukem 3D really well.

I just really want to get this partition working, it bugs me to no end not having it present.

Want to add that although I've not posted much on here, I find this place amazing. Tons of info and useful support software, really top notch stuff thank you.

I'm gonna guess, you partitioned the drive first and then tried to create the diagnostics part-ition. So the solution would be, delete all the partitions and start with the diagnostic partition first.

or use something like partition magic to resize the partition already on the disk and move it to the back, thus freeing a few Megabytes up in front of the disk.

Right to repair is fundamental. You own it, you're allowed to fix it.

I bought it second hand, ad said formatted. I tried first to load the bios info, got the error. At that point I wasn't even sure if the computer worked so I got it going without it.

I've always been a little gun shy around partitions and didn't really understand it properly. Plus I have a Compaq Presario 524 All in One with a restore disk and CD and it was able to erase and make everything easy.

Based on your suggestion I used a Win 98se Boot Disk to delete the partition using fdisk and then used the two disk set from sp4711 and was able to get the partition made. Thank you very much for the help.
