MIC 471 is a rebranded SiS 85C460 or 85C461 386/486 single chip chipset, MIC491 - SiS 85C407 ISA bus buffer. G and P letters in model/BIOS stands for "Green" and "PS/2 mouse" respectively. BIOS supports power management and PS/2 mouse, but limits HDD geometry to 1024C/16H/63S, thus can't properly detect hard drives larger than 528MB. To enter BIOS setup CTRL+ALT+ESC key combination needs to be pressed after cache size is displayed during POST. Motherboards with P/N 09-00189-10 were used by Gateway.

Yes unfortunately it requires a fair degree of disassembly - fortunately I took one in the middle of an upgrade so if you don't mind shots of it that are slightly less clear (a bit harder to read the chips at the VGA end of the board) and in non-original condition (added cache chips, overdrive + extra ram) - find attached

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I am learning still. I have ended up with one of these boards with the fake cache on it. I plan to remove the fake cache and put some real stuff on it along with the jumpers to configure it. If I do this can I then put the bios on the unit from the links you have posted to make it work properly ?
