Hi all,
I just received an interesting XT based computer today from eBay.
It's a Copam PC-301 which has a case unlike other PC-301's I can see online.
The motherboard is a L-shape design without onboard RAM and instead it came on an IO card
I did a basic clean of the board and IO Card (Good old Varta had leaked).
Also got a full sized CGA graphics card which I am happy about and a couple of 360K floppies that seem to be working OK in another unit.
Unfortunately I cannot get it to boot, it powers on OK (PSU is ~12.2v and ~5.1v under load) but no display sadly.
Update: After about 20 seconds there's random some static noise from the speaker - still no display
Anyone know of the jumpers/switches of the mainboard or IO card?
Not that keen to go replacing all the caps just yet..
Side note: Apparently these guys got sued by IBM for copying the BIOS. One of the unlucky few who got "caught" I guess. [https://archive.macleans.ca/article/1984/7/23 … omputer-pirates]
