I got the V2 tester working so I guess it was working the whole time. Quake 2 won't do OpenGL though and gives an error 2 on OS 8.6. On OS9 no textures show up.

OpenGL 1.2.1 installer fails on OS8.6 and demands OS9 despite the internet saying it should work. What the actual fuck why is classic mac stuff so utterly incompetent compared to classic PC stuff I am so annoyed.

Because Mac's at that time, were build as a sort of workhorse. Well... Apple made shure that what they thought was good stuff, worked in Mac's. The user was not supposed to understand what went on under the hood, the user only had to know how to operate the computer and nothing else. That's why they are so different. Pc's on the other hand, have nearly allways been open.

I get it, and I suppose I shouldn't expect anything from hobbyists- free work after all- but man, there's no documentation anywhere for any of this. Whyyy does the opengl 1.2.1 not work? Everywhere says it should!
I've abandoned the voodoo idea and I'm just gonna leave it as is and play around with old software. I was able to overclock from 300 to 400mhz stable which is neat.

When I had a G4 (the slowest factory equipped Sawtooth), I ran Quake in OpenGL on that.
It was not with a Voodoo card. I used the factory equipped Rage128-Pro card.
It ran Os9.

Yeah I tried default OGL with the Rage 3D pro on this and uh- well it runs 640x480 with a half-sized window and lowest textures.
Software mode is literally better.
