Not sure how retro this is, but it's for my core2quad based dx9 machine.

It's complete and was only $10 at a Salvation Army I popped into for the first time today.

Cheap replacement fan from eBay Asia. Not sure if any good...

Is it better than last one? Same in old PC?

Actually I bought this Atari 2600 Jr about 17 years ago but just re-found it in the shed recently - it cleverly survived several moves by laying low in the bottom of a box of CD's. This of course was the cost reduced model, released in 1986. It's a very solid, simple little unit, and it came up pretty well with a soap and water bath. I only have one game for it so will have to do some research into what to play - all I know at this stage is that there is a lot of shlock out there for the 2600, which of course had a big part to play in the great video game crash of '83. I'd actually like to play E.T just because of it's infamy.

Then you could better just use a regular IDE drive instead.. Taking other ways mostly turns out to be disasters

I don't have any 😀
😵
There are other options such as using a PCI SATA controller. Or just live without that DMA tickbox in Windows 98SE. I doubt it makes a huge difference. The system was still brutally fast with a WD 500GB black compared to using a CF card.

I wouldn't call it a disaster. I always look into ways of mixing new with old technology. In 10 years time I can see others using 2TB drives with 32GB limits and SATA > IDE adapters. I just do the groundwork 😵

Does it have a jmicron 20330 chip? I use adapters with it reliably with UDMA5 turned on

Organized the hoard today... had to add a second 6' table to separate the audio hardware apart from the video & misc items. Looks so purdy when it's all just sitting there. 😀

Looks like bars of gold in bank vault.
I wonder if these boards constantly go up? Or in 20-30 years grow a generation, which they are not needed, and prices will fall to a minimum?

You're going to give somebody a heart attack. If you let me alone for an hour in that room I'd go around opening up every single one of these and just have a blast with them. Fantastic collection! 😀

Turned on where?

@Artex

😲

Turned on by ticking the 'Use DMA' checkbox you mention. That is on a Athlon XP system with a KT333 board and a S478 celeron setup from 2004; both with 500gb+ drives

Not my intention... But I know right?! There's something about seeing all this stuff together in a big heap. Maybe it's the colors, or just the nostalgia of it all. Such a profound feeling when it hits ya!

I like to room much more, then that there are laying old parts on the tables.. Its nice and clean! And you have nice storage boxes under the tables.

Hehe. Those are filled with non-boxed hardware... All bagged, tagged, and cataloged. It really pays off to start organized and more importantly STAY organized with this hobby.

Interesting. I tested this on a BX440 board. Another member confirmed the same issue.

On later machines I'm fine as they usually have chipset SATA.

He's going to end up like that guy in Italy who had like a million dollars worth of vintage video game gear in his cellar.
