This seems to be a weird beast ! ?u=https%3A%2F%2Ftse1.mm.bing.net%2Fth%3Fid%3DOIP.yrq1jVgEgXvowJTdRtAoogHaFz%26pid%3DApi&f=1&ipt=dc62cce6306e4727dadb934460c7962405fe63977c61d0c768b10b2fd81e30a1&ipo=images

Western Digital WD10TMVV-11TK7S1, a 2.5-inch 1TB hard drive.

Seems to be maybe SATA-1. I'm not sure what laptop it came out of, but I can't find any adapters to fit it, so I can read it !

Any help is appreciated !!

Greg

Its "usb", if you look at the pcb its ordinary SATA drive with usb bridge chip thrown in to better market segment external drives so people dont shuck them https://www.ifixit.com/News/46724/how-to-find … rnal-hard-drive

you can see two data pairs going from initio chip to actual controller https://recuperodatos.com/disco/western-digit … 000gb-595-16820 can solder into those directly after cutting out onboard bridge

Yeah, I searched for over an hour myself. I have several adapters for 2.5 disks, but not for this one !

Welcome to the confused discussion !!

I'm not confused by the fact that it's a USB C connector, I just looked at your photo and the google results.

After looking at some more photos it's clear that this is just a drive from the range of external USB drives from WDC without it's case.
It's just that your posted photo is really badly showing the connector.

You can easily swap the PCB with a SATA one, you'll find a compatibility table on many sites, for example https://www.data-medics.com/forum/threads/wd- … e-pcb-guide.13/

You'll need to swap/reflash the eeprom on the SATA pcb with your USB one though.
