Wasn't till I checked the pictures that I saw it was actually a 3500, it also matches perfectly a similar card I missed out on a month ago by 50 cents....that one sold for ~350 AUD IIRC this one was a bit cheaper.

Nice! Compaq does make quality video cards from existing components. Have a S3 ViRGE/GX and nVidia TNT2 cards built by them.

I posted the transparent case and some other goodies I scored a few days ago. But there was more in that haul. I also got a plastic bag with fans and cables and the real score hid among that rubbish.

That case alone already looks exciting tbh. From the Chieftec Dragon era (I always forget the name of the really original case).

I came across these three cards in a local listing by an e-waste reseller. They were being sold as expansion cards at junk value so I grabbed them all at 5 bucks. They all work.

This is my 6th AWE64 Value I think. I don't really need more, but I bet they will cost $100 each in half a decade so why not 🤣. As for the others, a PCI VGA with S-Video out are always welcome in my book and I'm not sure what the other one is (IO controller with parallel port, game port along and 2 serial port headers I think?) but I saw an 8-bit expansion card and got it.

Yes, although pixels won't be square if you want the picture to cover whole screen. I recently bought 2 more hp2035, I also do have 2 Dells FP2007 although they are irritating (very weak composite in for some odd reason resulting in super poor picture quality and they struggle to save calibration settings).

I'm not against using LCD monitors entirely and know all their advantages. Currently using a 1920x1200 LCD monitor with IPS panel on my modern computer and I can set it to 1600x1200 for 4:3 aspect ratio. The only thing is that mine is purely digital and stuck at 60 Hz, which isn't bad for most consoles but I don't get a smooth framerate experience with many DOS games because of this.

Yes, although pixels won't be square if you want the picture to cover whole screen. 320x200 in old computers were intended to have non-square pixels despite the aspect ratio being 16:10.

Still here lurking and still collecting. Sadly though, it seems the current state of affairs is no different than what it was when I decided to stop posting in this topic/thread now many months ago. VOGONS was (and still very much is) a great source of knowledge disseminated by many people who are way smarter than I. This thread though - originally established as a space for the digital curation of these retro goodies - somehow continues to be filled with the toxic rants of people who just can't seem to enjoy the hobby for what it is. They continue to bash those who have no ill intentions and who simply want to share their treasures without judgement. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but people should have the capacity to exercise some self-restraint as well. @Tetrium - cheers to you and some of the oldie Vogoneers that just seem to 'get it.'

Im lost for words, its like a nerds little corner of heaven right there, could get lost for weeks with that collection just enjoying looking at it all, thanks for showing it to me!

Just browsing the Video Cards might take me a few hours so many awesome bits of PC history there, I know some here like to hate on 3DFX but for me they will always have a place in my collection. As the company that ushered in a revolution in PC 3d gaming graphics I personally feel that all collections should have at least one 3DFX card in it, even if its not being used.

and then .. there is a V6000 in there, out of curiosity how does it perform or does it have similar SLI issues as the V5500?

Like you, I'm clearly over the moon for anything 3Dfx-related and have amassed quite a collection of boxed and bare cards, lots of 3Dfx shwag and the mighty V5-6000. My first 3Dfx card - the Orchid Righteous 3D with those magical clicky relays - forever changed me during my techie 'formative years' and the nostalgia has never stopped. To answer your question, it's a beast of a card when (8x) AA is applied and those extra chips are put to use. So yeah, definitely a special place in my heart for this lovely card and storied company. But then again, you look at the Quantum3D Mercury Brick (also in my collection) with 4 x 200 SBis connected up and the Antialiasing is pure madness.

Obviously doesnt get out much, I have met a lot of women who are avid collectors of retro hardware and are as much into this hobby as any guys I have ever met.

To me it feels like they have some serious projection issues to be blaming an entire sex for the actions of individuals.
