I´m getting ready to fix five resistors in a PS/2 model 50 motherboard, destroyed by its neofit previous owner. also the damaged veins.
I rescued the machine literally form the garbage and mud. Had to disassembly the keyboard down to the springs, for cleaning.
I couldn't recover the bottom and the back, so I will have to build some replacements

Probably manufactured by IBM OEM, because it has a 386SLC-25Mhz processor installed, the CacheCHK program can detect the presence of an 8KB L1 Cache,
The processor under the cylindrical heatsink generates a lot of heat and it is not possible to keep your finger on the heatsink for a long time.
edit: BTW, see if it benchmarks more like a DX33, a lot of these SLC/DLC cores seem to do about 1.5 the IPC of generic 386, more so the ones with a "486" model name, think they got the extra instructions as well as boost from cache.

Bought these the other day for my windows 98 system. Know the ssd is not considered retro but the application is and never had a
ati branded card before so thought I'd give it a shot and see if it'll surpass the voodoo 3 it's replacing. Still kinda "sketchy" on what
drivers to use for win98 and if it'll need directx 8 or not.
I really like the Radeon. I had to choose between one of those and a Geforce 2 GTS for my main retro build. The Radeon is technically better, I think, but Geforce 2s are more common and have better drivers. That's a great looking card you got too.
Thanks, so far it runs very well. Getting 93fps in quake 2 800x 600 and 162fps in GLquake 640x 480.

Today I bought the Escom pc from my youth in exact the same case and configuration as mine was. Underwhelming in terms of performance maybe, but it reminds me of happy days and that's what counts 😀
Bought an entire untested PC for very cheap because it was hiding an Asus TUV4X inside. And seem to fully work!
It came with an 1Ghz Coppermine (133 bus, nice). At first it wasn't booting with two different Tualerons but after a bios update to the latest beta, it POSTs successfully.

Nice 😀 Great that it's working with just BIOS updates. Do you know if Asus had similar problems to Abit? I've had to recap the VH6T board where all the caps over 100uF were bursting.
I've just done the same thing to get an Abit BH6 and a DB50XG attached to a Turtle Beach Fiji, all in an Enlight 7105 ATX case - I've got lots of slot1 motherboards but the BH6 is one of those boards I wish I'd never sold off long ago. The family PC went from a Cyrix 5x86-100 to an Abit BH6 with a Celeron 300A @ 450MHz, with my 3Dfx Voodoo 1 😀
Now I've got the Voodoo 1 (s.. plural), some Celeron 300A Slot1 CPUs and the BH6 back at last.
Of course, the DB50XG was flopping about in the case when it got here but it seems to work well.
I bought a pair of brand new ASUS MEL-M 440LX motherboards with AGP, ISA, and an onboard Yamaha sound card. There are three memory slots and even an SB-LINK connector. The capacitors are also genuine Rubycon and are in great condition. What a great little board. Lovely, lovely!

I heard that Abit was the worst of all during the plague caps era. This particular Asus motherboard has near mint caps, none of them (at least visually) show any sign of failure.
I took a punt on a mixed CPU lot "pulled from working environment" there's nothing too special in there, but it gets to my door at the same price as getting low end testers twice, i.e. about $20 a purchase with the shipping in. Hoping the Phenom II black edition turns out good, but there's also a windsor to screw with, a PentiumD, some core2 class to act as scratch monkeys for modding tests, and some randoms for testers, might end up divesting some of the spare on the freebie thread. Had laptop in the title, but only 5 are mobile I think, possible a couple of those might offer a minor speed bump to machines that are in the fam.
I was looking for other stuff but got sidetracked as you do. Another cheap/variety lot that caught my eye was "Lot 24 Intel Pentium & AMD Mixed w/ Pentium-II ..." price seemed reasonable for good variety, kind of a 96-2006 starter kit, though a bit socket A heavy.

Made an offer on a ISA single board computer, an Advantech PCA-6145 - looks to have either 16 or 32mb ram and a DX4. Has 1mb C&T 65550 video on a VL bus and can take pc/104 cards. It's pretty small - no longer than a 16bit ISA card.
Have been wanting to build a tiny 486 for a while now , I will be using a with a passive 3 slot ISA riser and putting all of my big box towers away in storage.
My biggest issue will be the case... I'm an atrocious wood worker!
