Im not sure why its called IPA in other parts but here in Australia its normally just called ISO 97%, we can get the weaker stuff but why you would want that for electronics is beyond me.

I have a very similar card (I think mine is a Geforce 2 Ultra though) with the same situation. The fan is loose because the tiny plastic C-shaped stopper that clips around the shaft on the back of the fan (basically, the first thing you see when you uncover the hole on the back of the fan) had been deformed by some previous owner. I'm sure a solid tug would pull it right off even with the clip on there, but amazingly after some lubrication with 3 in 1 oil the fan spins fine without vibration and cools the card perfectly.

The part you want to replace might be called an "e-clip". If you measure the old one, you should be able to find a replacement cheap from AliExpress. I'm not so sure about how to search for a replacement if it's a nylon ring though. I don't know if that's a standard part that can be ordered.

IsoPropylAlkohol in Danish, probably something very close in English. I was also confused at first, when reading IPA, as I'm more into dark lagers and stout type of beer 🤣 actually, I really don't like IPA 🤣

I saved a bunch PS/2 computers from the scrap pile:
- two Model 30 286, one with a working hard drive
- PS/2 Model 57 486SLC3
- PS/2 Model 70 386
- PS/2 Model 58 486SLC2
- External 5.25" floppy drive which fits the Model 57
- 2 Model M keyboard which are in a rough shape (need cleaning)

I've yet to decide what to do with them. Three of 'm work and boot to DOS. I've yet to test the other PS/2's.

Very likely or a cap in the PSU has gone, would be worth opening it up and seeing if you can see any skid marks on the motherboard. The damage may not be to bad and a new cap may get her back up and running, having that may working PS/2 machines would be a dream for some collectors, I dont evny you the task of figuring out what to do with them.

My hope is they end up in good homes with collectors who will value them.

Grabbed the very first Pentium, the 60Mhz SX835. The first computer my parents bought me in 1994 was a Pentium 66 with an AWE32. Brings back a lot of memories. I also remember going to LAN parties and the DX4 100 guys used to laugh at my Pentium saying it was rubbish and had a bug, “you should have got a 486”. Kicking myself now for trading in the that PC for something faster.

Yeah that. It actually frequently says "rubbing alcohol" on the stuff you get from drug stores in North America, but that can include really weakass stuff that's got oil of wintergreen and witch hazel in it, which is probably better for your hurty knee, but useless for cleaning. Some of those type can also be denatured ethanol (with assorted other unhelpful stuff in to denature it) and butanol maybe too.... So the tendency to specify IsoPropyl Alcohol and strength so the right stuff is used. Also may be called Isopropanol.

I will probably check the Model 70 later today and post on the forum if I was able to fix it.

As for what to do with the bunch, I own a few IBM's prior to and after the PS/2 era. So far I only owned a defective Model 30 XT which is on my list to fix. As I primarily focus on non IBM compatibles, I'm not sure what to do with these yet. But I always make sure they end up in good homes. That's way I save these in the first place. I usually sell on Amibay too as eBay prices are usually too high.

Kind of my problem with most of my retrocomputing cravings. Oh well, I have two Electrons, a B, a 3000 and a 610 with PC copro. It'll do. 😁

That is some truly nice stuff in your collection! You are so right. Me too can't jutify those CJE/Ebay prices. It may be worth it, but just not to me. My RiscPC was completely stock till today. The difference such a StrongArm card makes is really unbelievable.

We usually call it either "alcool izopropilic" or "alcool tehnic" here, but IPA was the easiest way for me to quickly put it. I can see the connection between pale ale tho 🤣

Not sure I would want to drink the IPA we talk about here, I like home brews but Electronic Cleaner flavour doesn't quite invoke a "tasty beverage" feeling 🤣.
