wrote:I guess when I think of it, if I were to sell my Voodoo II (12MB) cards, I would probably ask about the same price, so maybe I got a decent deal after all when I think of it like that.
I have been looking for one for an 'affordable' price for a while now and I think I did OK(ish) considering how much these cards are going for lately. It seems to me at least that in the last year, Voodoo 2 12MB cards have become a bit of a rarity (I wouldn't say hens teeth rare, but rare nonetheless), along with a lot of Roland stuff. Last year I managed to find a lot of Roland gear and even a couple of Voodoo cards for very good prices, but these last few months, not so much.
Does anyone think I paid too much for this card? Do you guys see the demand for these cards going up lately?
Agree with Phil on the philosophical side (and would add "who cares if you aren't hurting yourself with the purchase"), but in terms of numbers it seems like Voodoo2's have gone up to the $50-$80 range depending on manufacturer, seller, etc. I don't honestly remember what I paid for mine used, probably something like $10-$15 though. Keep in mind this was in ~2005 when nobody seemingly wanted them. So no, I don't think you paid too much, and yes, I have seen "demand" (or at least prices) going up some. 😊
I am interested in a Voodoo 2 1000,too.
Even the Box would be cool 😀
I actually got lucky with my first Voodoo II 12MB I acquired last year because it was part of a huge lot of video cards I bought for only $30 and one of my Voodoo I 4MB cards I found in a cpu case I rescued from a recycling bin dumpster, but on the market I have noticed the same - like obobskivich says, I agree that $50-$80 seems to be the norm these days (according to some recent eBay prices I have seen)
This card was my first 6K. Unfortunately, it is gone...

Some more of my eBay retro hardware purchases from this week...
I can't resist buying these KVM's for some reason, picked up 3 more...I guess I want to test them all out one day and see which ones give the best quality picture (least image degradation)....The Starview one is super heavy and solid...feels like it's made out of a block of steel! 🤣...the great thing about that one is that it has both PS/2 and 5pin DIN connections for keyboard and both PS/2 and 9 pin connections for the mouse...
I also picked up a couple chip pullers...these will come in handy when upgrading my Tandy 1000's...
Another Model M IBM keyboard...this is an AS400 terminal model...I might use it for parts, for repairing some of my other PS/2 Model M's...
A few other odds and ends I picked up this week...
An AWE 64...for $5, can't hurt to have another (when I say things like this, I think I really am becoming a hoarder 🤣 )
An external USB 250 Zip drive...may come in handy when transferring files from my modern pc's to ZIP disks to use in my older parallel zip drive
A Creative XFi half height PCI card...wonder how this compares to my other XFi full height cards...I will have to test
and a PCI 9 pin Serial port adapter...Some of my more modern boards (with PCI slots) don't even have a header for a 9 pin serial port, so this will come in handy if I ever need it...

http://cubeupload.com/ is the best image hosting site I have used. Its fast and clean (at least with adblock).right click ---> edit ---> resize ---> pixels ---> a number ---> OK ---> save as ---> profit.
Its not possible to make everybody happy without banning all images except thumbnails though as I bet some people browse this site using their Compaq 800*600 SVGA screens from 1993.
Fixing auto resize on the forum would be great, until its done "right click" ---> "view image" works even when lazy members post 4k images 😎
Imgur doesn't let the public see your image unless you create an account and "submit to public" via the picture once you've made it, and need an account for that. If you just open the site and dump a picture on it, said picture is private to only people you give the URL to. It's by design of the site, just so you know. No one else will see it except for where you link it at and who you give the URL to.
In order to break up the flow of sound cards, graphics cards and KVMs... here's another laptop.
A Dell Latitude CP 233ST, which has a Pentium MMX 233 MHz CPU, 64MB of RAM, and a 2MB SVGA video adapter. It cost me a tenner, plus about £3 for the caddy. I've chucked in a Dell battery I had lying around spare (its one was totally dead), a 40GB drive (oddly, the 20GB drive I bought for it doesn't seem to like it, and the BIOS won't find it... even though the 40GB has no issues whatsoever, and it worked in my Latitude C600!), and the DVD drive module from the Latitude C600 (temporarily).
My only real concern is that the space bar and right arrow key appear dodgy (they work, but aren't secure). Seems to run extremely well, trackpad is good, charges batteries fine, no obvious IDE issues (apart from the bizarre HDD objection), screen seems good (although there are a couple of minor scuffs, it IS a TFT) etc. Haven't tested its FDD as I can't find my damn floppies, but I'll get around to that eventually.

Well then they are alright I guess but I will stick with http://cubeupload.com/ as I already have tons of pics there.

Unlimited image storage for one, otherwise they limit you to 250 pics per account stored, but you can just make an infinite number of accounts anyway for free.

I use postimg.org which doesn't even require an account. But they seem to
use a high JPEG compression level
