What a curious board. Two different types of memory expansion, SLT chips and headers for a paddleboard.
I think it's MCAmafia who has a great little utility you can put on a bootable floppy and it compares the card ID to a list of known MCA cards to tell you what the board is.

Edited: It's "IDMCA" and I've attached a bootable floppy image of the utility.

I am hoping to replace the ISA 3C509 in my U5S system because it is a bit on the slow side. Only problem I can see is that it may not like the fast timings I currently have but they make very little difference in real-world performance when lowered a little. Otherwise it doesn't really matter because it was not very expensive and will be nice to keep on the shelf until I do find a place to use it.

EDIT: Oh, almost forgot. I grabbed this for my Athlon XP system too;

I do not have a MCA system at the moment but that is just a question of time, I used to have an IBM 55SX but I think I will get something more fancy than that.

Yes, it's the exact same mold they used with the 486/Pentium. Finnish assembled machines were branded "MikroMikko (MicroMike? 🤣) and those sold or assembled outside Finland were either ICL or Fujitsu. I also like the case and the quality of parts and the amount of integrated ports. Too bad the compatiblity isn't that great compared to your average clone. I've had many problems trying to configure different sound cards and getting some hardware tests to run correctly. These machines were cleary not ment to be experimented with.

Finally I've received this great dock for my IBM ThinkPad 370C - this gem is DOCK II 3546 (www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/ThinkPad_Dock_II_(3546)) and literally transforms this 486 laptop in a desktop computer with ISA slots, IDE, SCSI, speakers, etc. - in great conditions and fully functional, with internal PSU, among other things:

Perhaps your VRM modules couuld not handle the load and therefore the amount of current on the 5V rail skyrocketed? The PSU could also be the issue as you need ~30A on the 5V rail, and if the PSU cant handle it the voltage will drop and the current (and heat) will rise.

I think even if the 1MB CPUs takes ~50W each and the VRM modules are not very effective the AT connector should be able to handle the load without melting, at least if the case has good airflow. My VRM modules look beefy enough even if I doubt they officially support the 1MB CPUs and although my most powerful AT PSU only is specced at 300W with 25A on the 5V rail thats a worst case scenario where one of the two PSU modules has failed so it should be able to provide up to 50A as long as both modules are working.

Its perhaps best I keep the fire extinguisher nearby just in case.

Thanks to my recently acquired TL866CS I could finally diagnose my 486's non-working external cache. I nailed it down to a busted 32kx8 SRAM chip used as TAG RAM, so I bought replacements! Managed to gind those nationally and for very little money, which is even better! And yes, I already installed one in my 486 and now the DX2-66 is a happy camper with external cache =)

niiiiice. Even better, it's ISA, so maybe you could have a 486 inside a 286 😉

I wonder if it's for Intel PC systems, at all, though - what model is it?

SBCs don't really work that way. They are effectively going to try to run the ISA BUS in reverse. Did often wonder if I could use risers to make a couple of small backplanes at the bottom of a full-size case running a µATX or ITX mobo though.

So yeah, the system generally expects to have a backplane with no logic on it. Most of the time anyway, there are differing designs.

Have wanted to get an industrial machine for a while, probably will next year. I did enjoy working with them back when I had to do that, especially how it was possible to upgrade a 286 to an Intel P4 Celeron by replacing a card. I believe an Atom SBC is still available for ISA backplanes from one company but I do not remember which right now.

Aha, maybe not the best idea to plug it into an active ISA slot then. Perhaps the board can be powered using a standard PSU?
I do have an Amiga 3000 with passive ISA backplane slots but I don't think it's going to fit in there.

Yes, you can install SBC mobo in Amiga 2000-4000, but you can't control this PC from Amiga (you need a brigeboard for this), but this works like two separate machine in one case.

486 sbc you can find about 100$ on ebay, if you have time to wait.
Most important thing, to have a vlb/pci video card is soldered on same board, or you faced with very slow external isa video. It's not critical for router or modem pool (for what usually sbc used), but important for old-gaming.

Bought one of these for my SCSI drives, in order to have a 15000rpm 9.4gb RAID-1 setup in a future build that I am thinking of.

The build will be based on an P2B-S or an P2B-DS, some sort of Pentium-III and 512mb Ram.
It's all in the planning, based on what hardware I have left to build with.
