I've just received a GX2 in a joblot of cards and whilst it works fine in single gpu mode it doesn't appear to work properly in sli mode, guessing they need a fair bit of juice tho so I've taken it apart and redone the cooling ready for a test with a beefier psu 😀

They're Actually pretty picky and won't engage SLI mode in a lot of older systems. I've owned one once, and only ever got it to work in newer systems, like AMD AM2 / Intel 775 and up.

Good things go to those who search eBay several times a day everyday 😎

Sorry but I gotta know, what'd you pay for that thing? I've only seen trade show postings of it. I couldn't even confirm it ever made it to retail sales.

Nothing special, but picked Epox EP-8K9A7I with Athlon XP 2000+

Looks like a nice motherboard, though it isn't anything special. Doesn't seem to support AGP 2x cards though and the SATA ports are bugged if they are from VIA's own chipset.

Is your Athlon XP CPU's part number contain DUT3C? That would be a thoroughbred, but the die looks more like a Barton?
The pic isn't very clear though, so it's hard to read 😊

A bit of a gamble, since I never even heard of these before. And I don't think I ever seen hybrid CPU/GPU HSFs before and these were pretty cheap. I only intend to use these for broken or very loud VGA fans though.
Also got some case fans on the way as I'm running really low on those too.

i have a very similar one on my 8800gs card. works a treat.

These look quite awesome, and are giving me some ideas.

The link also has liquid cooling systems... an overclocked liquid cooled 386! 🤣

They do look very nice. Atm I don't even have a card that needs a cooler and the cards that do need a cooler, won't work with these. But I do have a couple cards that will work with this Zalman cooler which right now have an older Zalman VGA cooler (the VF700) which in turn I can fit too the cards that require a new cooling solution 🤣

And this is one of the reasons I like having multiple systems around: Whenever I pay for an upgrade for one rig, I end up upgrading 3 😁

I looked closely to the pic and seems to be an AXDA2000DKV3C, also a Thoroughbred based Athlon XP

Edit: i missread it. look at my last message

Well, i couldn't guess the right model (the pic wasn't clear), but i know Thorton is basically a Barton with half of the L2 Cache, resulting in 256 KB compared to 512 KB in Barton

That would make sense. It is actually a Barton, but with half f its cache disabled. Perhaps you could re-enable it 😁

I love the "FRANK`N`MOUSE" by the one chip. That's pretty hilarious they had that printed on the PCB for production.

According to http://pclinks.xtreemhost.com/video_tnt.htm they are the exact same thing.

I picked up a Male to Female PS/2 adapter, male to male PS/2 adapter, a round ATA100 connector, and a round floppy connector from a local thrift store today. All were new in packing and think about $2 each. Not sure I needed the M-M PS/2 cable but the other will likely be modded to use with an AT board with mouse header.

Got these in the mail today:

- His All-in-wonder 9600XT boxed
- Ati All-in-wonder Radeon boxed
- Club 3D All-in-wonder 9800 pro boxed
- Asrock 4CoreDualSata2 boxed
Not exactly vintage, but I like the VIA chip and the fact that you can choose between AGP/PCIe and DDR1/DDR2.
- Asus P5N-E SLI
got it for free as defective - still needs testing
- Asrock QC-5000 boxed
got it for free as defective - still needs testing

and 4*256 whopping MegaBytes of sheer EDO dimm maddness 😀
