Now that right there is a score.
What's inside the "image sharpener" box?

And uh, does this source of yours have any more cool stuff to part with? 😉

I'm the last person on the planet who can't seem to find a Model M keyboard in good shape and for cheap..

That is an incredible haul by the way, and I'm VERY jealous 😁

Then, at the fleamarket in a nearby larger town, which usually sucks really badly (tons of absolute junk, sellers who think they're selling the crown jewels), I came across this:

portatone.jpg

Yamaha Portatone PSR-21, from 1986, in pretty good condition, including manuals, power supply and some music sheets. Unfortunately it lacks MIDI, but it does have a (very limited) synthesizer on board. That one cost me 30 Euros.

Popped the cover on the keyboard, and its heart is the Yamaha YM3812, the same OPL2 FM synth chip that was used in Adlibs and early Soundblaster cards! There's also the accompanying Yamaha Y3014 DAC, and a Yamaha chip XA90880 which yields zero Google results, so I guess it's a custom (ROM?) chip.

The keyboard has some neat features:
- 16 types of preset sounds, with a switchable synthesizer that has the choice of 4 different envelopes and 4 different tones (so when using the synthesizer, 4x4x16=256 different sounds are possible).
- Sustain, vibrato on/off, pitch adjustment, connector for an expression pedal, aux out (mono RCA jack unfortunately), can run off batteries or mains, integrated speakers, stereo headphone jack that disables integrated speakers (and can probably be used as a stereo line out).
- An integrated accompaniment drum machine with 16 presets (each with a maximum of 6 drum tones) and selectable beats per minute of 36 to 320 bpm. Each drum kit can be customized using a programmable sequencer to play a custom loop of notes. The drum machine can be automatically synched to anything you play, or be started/stopped by pressing a specific button. Also available is a fill in feature for drums only during playing pauses.
- A maximum polyphony of 9 (9 keys pressed at once). The polyphony can be exploited to produce some very synthy sounds.
- An integrated accompaniment bass(/electric bass/tuba/synth) option that, when enabled, splits the keyboard in two, letting you play two instruments at once, with the main instrument being piano/guitar/brass/synth. This also has an automatic mode that is similar to the drum machine except for the programmable pattern bit. When using the accompaniment feature polyphony drops to 4.
- What's really cool about the above, is that the accompaniments work additively, so it's possible to set up a drum sequence, have that play, then enable the bass accompaniment, press a few keys to set that up, change some settings of the bass accompaniment, press a few more keys, and the result is a fairly complex tune because the earlier bass accompaniment settings are kept in memory when the new ones are added!

Looks like this one will be a keeper, and I wonder whether it's possible to enable additional features with a little surgery...

Today's small haul.
3719d92c-5db8-4d83-93c4-afb216f01ee8_zpse3wrtkcq.jpg
In order of appearance:

1) CH Products MACH II joystick.
I got it locally almost for free. Like new condition. I already have one similar - CH Products Mach I+ model, but this one is a lot better in terms of precision mainly due to the shape of the grip. I generally like those joysticks very much for their looks and EXCELLENT build quality. They are made by the company making industrial grade stuff and you can really tell by the way these joysticks feel

2) AdPlus Sound Galaxy NX.
Thank you @Batyra. The card seems to be an early revision of AZTECH Sound Galaxy NX. On the PCB it says "AdPlus", which dose not correspond with the sticker on the back of the PCB. I'm not the biggest AZTECH fan. Their products just don't have this magic and I mostly think of them as being cheap OEM stuff (which is not just), but I just can't resist buying any decent 8-bit ISA sound card out there. Seems like this card is pretty rare as well! (Batyra surely knew this while negotiating 😉)

If that is a GeForce 256, looks like DDR version to me. Asus V6600 (GeForce 256 SDR) had 8 memory banks instead of 4 on front side.

I noticed this as well.
Also the ASUS TNT2 looks more to be a TNT2 M64

Yeah, the ASUS V3800 is a TNT2, but the V3800M is an TNT2 M64

Sadly, I didn't have data (traveling in the USA), nor time to really research. I definitely missed that M in the model though...🤣. Well, for $20 I got a Geforce 256 SDR, Voodoo3 2000, RIVA TNT2 M64, and a somewhat junky sound card. I'm not complaining.

On another note, I have finally returned home, and my father-in-law has a massive amount of computer and other electronic parts. I literally walked in their door and saw an Asus P5B and MSI 6163 Pro sitting there. I've already gathered 286, 386, and 486 boards for testing and sale/use. I'll post pictures soon.

Last year I purely by coincidence found a few of these M919 modules on one Brazilian auction site. Fellow vogoner from Brazil agreed to buy them and send them over to me. After he bought them and a few exchanged messages he didn't respond any more. Needless to say I never got them...

Requests are also possible... /msg kixs
