I purchased two things when I was on my thrift store adventures:

1) Yamaha PSR-215 keyboard for $30.
2) Samsung Gear VR (new) <-- not retro for $20 for my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge phone.

Does anyone know if Pin 1 on 3dfx 500-0010-01 chips is actually needed? Crossing fingers to hear that it's a GND that the chip can function without..

Thanks to everyone encouraging me to go ahead with the fix. My soldering skills have proven inadequate for something so small.. I undid my efforts before I made things worse, and contacted a local TV technician who says he can do the soldering job. I will be taking the card to him today. Fingers crossed.

Have a Sound Blaster Pro 2.0 CT1600 on the way now. Got is for a really good price considering what they have been going for for a long time now.

I might still have one new in box... I need to check soon. I have an ASP and an SB16 with a socket for one, as well... Maybe I'm sitting on a gold mine!

Over the last week I've gotten 28 (I think) whole computers, an unholy amount of RAM, and 60ish processors from my new IT job. The boss wanted the tech storage room (which has stuff going back to 1999 or so) emptied, I offered to help 😀

I had the ultimate Pentium 4 Machine built from some of it too but then my 7800GS AGP failed after less than 5 minutes usage. That's basically unreplacable so that plan is scrapped.

You were using a shitty card for that build anyway. Go with the ATI X1950/HD3850/HD4650 AGP.

I'd use it if I didn't already know that the Diamondmax line was a series of turds.

Maxtor should have been more careful using those horrible 7200RPM Quantum drives...it probably played a major role in bringing them down. I wonder who at Maxtor thought it would be a good idea to put aside their own product line in favour of a series of drives with a well known fatal design flaw.

My list of goodies last few weeks (pics coming soon :p)

* Extremely yellowed Commodore 486SX-25 with 8mb RAM, an exotic motherboard with no info on the net, an SB 2.0, WDC WD90C30-LR, 120mb'ish HD and Mitsumi CD rom + 16bit I/O card. Swapped the 2.0 for a Soundgalaxy Orion and the WD for a Mach32. The WD is in my Commodore 486DX-33 now hehe

* Boxed Sapphire 4850x2 (not that retro I know)

* Roland SC-88VL

* Socket 5 Intel Premiere PCI II (need to test it as soon as I have some parts). Wanted to slap in an AMD K5 but it seems this board only accepts P75 or P95 (DOH!!!). Got this for free

* A bag full of old RAM sticks for 8€ (not tested ofc but a good deal no??)

* A bunch of VGA cards: S3 Trio PCI variants, ATI Mach64 PCI , Matrox 798-02 Rev A, Tseng ET4000AX, a Videoblaster CT6080 (is there a use for this?), a Voodoo1 and an a Sapphire 9600XT with a huge-ass passive Zalman cooler slabbed on it. Price: got this all for free too.

End of line.....

Own that one as well. There's a "reserved" jumper which allows a P100 as well. Also, the IDT W2A (WinChip2) 233 MHz can be used as the fastest CPU on this board. However, the BIOS is very buggy, so be prepared for some fun.

Lol, first need a CPU for it and an AT PSU but that is not that hard. Too bad I can't use this AMD K5 because it's catching dust and I want to test if it works. Got it also for free but there were some bent pins on it. And I didn't want to buy a motherboard just to test it...

I was going to get one of those RIMM based P4s as a novelty but never bothered to. The vast majority of the ones made probably went directly into the recycling bin and might be worth something someday.

That's on my list also. I want to use it together with my Socket 423 to Socket 478 converter. Just because 😜

Oh I forgot something:
* Maxdata P3 1GHZ with Raid setup (2HD),MSI mainboard, 512MB RAM, Windows Fundamentals, MX2 200 (going to replace that, maybe for that 9600XT), Wireless card and some ISA soundcard. Can't remember the exact specs out of my head ATM sorry.
Going to look into this one when I got some other cards for it.

* Atari 2600 woodgrain 4 switch COMPLETE + 4 boxed games. This was for me a very good score. Paid 130€ for it.

And it's not well documented too. Only found this:

Motherboard: found nothing about it too.

Maybe this PC was made for a specific region or country??

Nice looking machine! The case reminds me of a 486 we had back in the day, only that was not a Commodore (but a Planhold PC).

I think this machine must be from the time that the Commodore brand was used by Escom, or maybe slightly before that. It was a confusing time, and the brand name Commodore has been passed around quite a lot after that...

Yes, it's a nice case. Going to try and Retrobright it.
TBH, this case is much easier to work in compared to my C 486-33. The DX is also much more documented so the SX might be from an obscure age.
Oh yeah, forgot another thing. It came with an original Commodore 1936 monitor. This was an nice extra especially since I threw an 1930 away.....Yeah I know.....Bought this PC + screen + floppies + screwed up speakers for 40€ 😀
