Local recycling got some goodies. I took the Model 60, Deskpro P450 and Deskpro 2000 233MMX. The IBM seems dead apart from the PSU running, Compaq's are fine.

I always loved how they put carrying handles on those full size towers 😀

Nice Dream wavetable and some very re-marked (OPTi 929?) Chip on the card...

Nice wavetable card!
Are you by any chance willing to make some recordings of it of the midi files on my website?

Willing, but probably will have to wait until after November 9th. Life is very busy for the next two weeks. Send me a PM around then to remind me. Good opportunity to test my whole recording setup, which I upgraded a couple of months ago but haven't really used. You probably already have Roland, Yamaha and Korg stuff, I can use that as a baseline to see (listen) if I'm recording correctly 😀

Very nice! I didn't see it show up in my saved eBay searches but I am guessing it was a BIN sale and you probably grabbed it up right away.

Edit: Not seeing it in the sold listings on the US eBay. Guess it was only listed in your area? Or was it not even on eBay?

Nice. That IBM brings back memories. I was given one of those probably 20-23 years ago but ended scrapping it because at the time I couldn't find any drivers, manuals, etc. for it. It did power on but I had no idea what to do with it.

Nope, local (eBay-owned...) Craigslist-like classified board. Was lucky to get it - the board allows bidding but doesn't enforce bids the way eBay does. So people bidding high then disappearing is all too common. I got outbid quite fast, but the two who did so didn't get in touch with the seller. I did, so I got it for as much as I was prepared to pay for it. Good communication always helps 😀

Bought this Genoa branded Cirrus Logic VLB card.

Nothing too exciting, except that I find interesting how they deviated from the CL reference design which mandates that the main chip should be as close to the VL-Bus connector as possible due to 3" total limit imposed by VL-Bus. This is more on the other side of the PCB than I've seen on ant other VLB card.

I once worked on fpga timing between cpu and memory and was deeply surprised to realize how difficult it was to get timing window all aligned.

I suppose Genoa engineers spelled some black magic there.

I bought two WORKING Socket 3 board from the recycler. Yay! 😁

One is a similar 4MHL3S to the other one I had. Except this one doesn't have a zif socket. I guess its older. I got a DX2/66 working on it.

The other is a Biostar MB-1433/50UIV-A Ver:5. Its nice, but one of the ram banks are broken. I guess I can always just tape the ram stick down. I got a AM486DX4/100 working on this one. I noticed that this one is missing its keyboard chip. Looks like that area was never populated. Something Chinese is written there.

I was hoping that one of these boards would support my AM5x86. But that doesn't seem to be the case.

Anyways, I've been testing my VLB and ISA cards. Now I have to figure out the dip switches and jumpers on these things as well. 🙁 Oh well.

That's well designed N9 S3 Vision 868. Note the shielded video signal traces etc. And using much more components and exceeds the S3 design requirements handbook.

Cheers,

Great Northern aka Canada.

Hi, I found the listing. Just to be sure, the listing price is for 2 CPUs, right?
Thanks a lot!

That's what it says. I hope to get a group buy going on CPU-World if someone like CPUShack can handle it, and see how low an offer will be accepted on a bulk buy 😀

Nice ! How much did the ST05X cost you ? Somewhere in my storage I have a few real 8bit IDE and SCSI HD cards but never found a working ST05x yet. You should save the BIOS files and upload them here if possible, last ST05x I saw was missing the BIOS chip so was useless since no BIOS files existed at the time....

In about 3 weeks iam going to make a start clean up my room.. Iam in waiting for a extra table where i can put some of the older hardware on.. Now its just a mess.

When i have more room. (I hope i could buying a new camera als0) then iam going start to dump the roms.. And archive the data.
Also have to find some time to copy the manuals also.. But now iam a litte in time need.

I bought this Pent Overdrive. Could I use this in any of my working boards? (4MHL3S or Biostar MB-1433/50UIV-A Ver:5) The manuals don't mention them, but I guess the POD wasn't released at the time.

I was also wondering how I could clean this fan with breaking the plastic around it.

No problem.
I hope these work.

I found some random 486 ICs at the recycler. I suppose I can share them too, but I don't know what boards they belong to. There's pics of the markings in the 7z file.
I dunno if anybody can identify them, but here you go anyways.

The "random 486 chips" are BIOS chips for 486 boards. It'll not be easy to figure out exactly what boards they come from unless you can dump the BIOS images. Then someone may have an idea.

Isnt that pentium overdrive for a socket 5 or 7 motherboard? Because i think you bought not the right one.. But these socket 5/7 are kinda rare and worth a lot of money.. Shouldnt share that one with an recycler. Should keep or sell if its the wrong one.

What your are looking for is a Pentium overdrive in white / blue silkscreen on the ventilator.
