Spotted this pile of trash in classifieds (picture is actually from the ad):

I instantly jumped on it and bought the entire pile. Reason:

I wish it works, I just need to order an adapter online to test it out.

I spotted that immediately. Nice find!

Honestly, those two boxed Radeons (assuming they are in there) are probably quite rare in box and likely worth a decent amount to collectors. I'd say those two are some of the few stand-out ATI cards from over the years. The 8500 was the first DirectX 8.1 graphics card and the 8xxx series were the only ones ever to support ATI's goofy "TruForm" tesselation, so if you want to see what your games look like when everything is made of balloons, that's one of the only cards that'll do it. And the 9800 Pro is obviously well known as a wonderful DirectX 9 card.

Also, the AGP card in the middle that's flipped over backward could be potentially interesting (or not at all)... I love those kinds of parts lots. Its like a treasure hunt. 😀

The Radeons are in the boxes but I'm pretty sure the fans are dead from dust ingestion. The AGP card was a Diamond Viper V770 ATX 16M so a cheapo TNT2.

Picked up a Tekram DC390F v3.0, which is the last revision they did of this card. Its my favourite scsi card from back in the day, well supported when I ran FreeBSD way back when as my primary os. I have an Adaptec AHA-2940U2W, but this tekram is my favourite. Under the sticker its just an Symbios 53C875 chipset, so its very well supported.

Excellent card. I plan on getting one and a DF-390U2W. I've had a DF-390U3W and I bought two DF-390U3Ds recently. They work great and support DOS and Windows 95. No Windows 3.1x, but that's no big deal.

I have my set up with an Acard 7730A and an Acard 7722 for support a modern SSD and DVD drive on my old system.

I've been meaning to post this for a few days, but got sidetracked...

After having some bad luck trying to get my 7800GS AGP to work again, I bought this Sapphire ATI Radeon x800 GTO AGP 256MB video card to replace it. It seems to be a nice period-correct card for the XP rig I'm throwing together.

Also had to place an order on a Molex extension cable because the power supply's cable length was too short, so there's no rush in testing it, I'll see how this goes tomorrow when the cable arrives.

Should I go with the Catalyst 10.2 XP drivers or do you guys have other driver suggestions that will be suitable for XP gaming?

Is that a passive vga adapter or a C= made one with ICs inside?

It's a buffered adaptor. 😜

EDIT:
It is made exactly like the one that Commodore made. Only its not an original Commodore.
They are sold brand new for 19 euro including shipping inside the EU.
As far as I can understand, then they are handbuild.

Okay, who got the Media Vision Thunderboard on eBay for $39? I made an offer but was declined. I have no practical use for it since I have an SB 2.0 CT1350B+CMS and an Aztech Sound Galaxy BXII (nearly the same functionality), but they are pretty rare.

If it had been in better condition (it was dirty and missing the volume dial) I might have sprung for it, but it would have been an entirely frivolous purchase...

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

Very nice - extra points for such an extravagant cooler on a lovely Pentium60.

No no no! Points off for beeing so lazy! 🤣

I use the exact same strategy: take a big heavy cooler and let it sit on top (loose) so it cools more than enough but can also be removed very quickly. Easy (lazy) testing setup.

Bought one of these a few days back. Was going fairly cheaply and I thought it would be a great fit for my 286.

Found some old PSU's, drives, Sound cards, and a video card. I also found a working computer with a turbo button that I need a Din5 Male to MiniDin6 Female for a keyboard and find one of my serial mice so I can do some testing this weekend.

I love that tower! Very unique style and not quite as gigantic as many towers with all those bays. I have a huge old tower with a turbo button and a toggle flip-switch like that too. Its very satisfying to turn on... I just wish I had a motherboard old enough to suit the system. It is currently holding a Pentium 200MMX.

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

Sweet haul! I used to have one of those Ultra modular power supplies back in the day (the X2 version http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/Search … p?EdpNo=3293596). Was really happy with it. And the clear insulation on the cables was really neat looking.

The plastic color matches at least.

That's true. Also all the 5/25" bays match. It's a nice looking case, I just have a severe distaste for the flake floppy bay covers of the 90s.

The real floppy seems to be a bit higher than standard, so they might not have had a choice. I like the look!
