Wish there was a way to change the font to another one to not get confused with the letter l (L) within the thread.

Got a second Edison Gold-16 in the mail today, exact same PCB and revision. It's a non-PnP ES688 with a clone (but perfect clone) OPL3 onboard. I really LOVE this card for 486 and earlier builds.

Interesting card, especially that it has different CD-ROM ports (Sony, Mitsumi, Panasonic, standard IDE), and a wavetable header for General MIDI daughterboards. I'm planning on getting one soon as well. The one I see on eBay has an ES1868 chipset with CD-ROM IDE and Wavetable headers (plug-n-play).

Nice!

I you change the url to the image on imgur a bit, you get a resized version. Add an l (L) before the .jpg:

There are 6 total thumbnails that an image can be resized to. Each one is accessable by appending a single character suffix to the end of the image id, and before the file extension. The thumbnails are:

Thumbnail Suffix Thumbnail Name Thumbnail Size Keeps Image Proportions
s Small Square 90x90 No
b Big Square 160x160 No
t Small Thumbnail 160x160 Yes
m Medium Thumbnail 320x320 Yes
l Large Thumbnail 640x640 Yes
h Huge Thumbnail 1024x1024 Yes
For example, the image located at http://i.imgur.com/12345.jpg has the Medium Thumbnail located at http://i.imgur.com/12345m.jpg

Sorry, I recently got a 4K monitor and what looks normal to me might look humongous to others. I resized it.

Cool. Thought I recognized the board name. I used to have that motherboard years ago, but sadly, the USB 1.1 ports broke, and the board is long gone by now. Had 512MB of RAM installed, an Athlon 900, and was later upgraded to a Socket AM2+ back in February, 2008.

My USB 1.1 doesn't work either so I'll also have to get a USB 2.0 card.

Sealed Monster Goodness..Box crushed inwards but not in such a way it would cause any damage, I believe.

This puppy then..Boxed AdLib Gold 1000. Heavy wear on corners, though.

She is a virgin. Absolutely no wear on this one.

However, I don't see much added value in something "sealed" if the outer box is not in shrink wrap. Besides, I do want to play with her in near future. So let's bring her into light, shall we! 😎

Till The End..Got a little teaser to myself. Kind of "to Keep up the Faith" I would say 😀

I wonder why people spending money on the Adlib Gold card at all. That card was technically outdated already when it came out and got bad reviews mostly. And it's not even special like the Innovation SSI-2001, for example. That's just wasting money on a crappy card. But it's obviously "rare", which seems to be enough for many people to want one, it seems. Though I wonder how rare it really is, seeing them pop up quite often.

I consider Creative 3D Blaster VLB much rarer and it was sold for much less.

I must be some kind of standard: the anonymous gangbanger of the 21st century.

The Innovation SSI-2001 is a SID chip to IBM sound card, right? There're remakes being made and selling/sold right now, and I think it's cool to see something like that. The Adlib Gold had a Yamaha YMF-262M chipset on there (OPL3), but didn't sell very well due to bad reviews as you stated.

No, not even close. Check the seller ratings and you get the right figure I believe (if you're that interested 😕 )

I think you're missing the whole point here. AdLib Gold is a collectible in its own right.

Cannot comment on 3D Blaster as there is no nostalgia factor on it for me. For the same reason I have not been particularly interested to bid on the ones I've seen appearing.

As long as you are happy, who am I to say anything, but at $4000 It must be nice to have more money than sense.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

Thanks! Now I just need to find a sealed copy of Dune.. 😊
I was positively surprised how that AdLib Gold turned out. Box was overall in a bit better shape than in seller's pictures and with a careful cleaning it turned out quite alright! All disks were readable as well and the first thing I did was to make images with HD-COPY. Still have those old computer magazines from my childhood from the era when AdLib Gold was released..and short after the company went down. It's just amazing to have a boxed version in my hands after so many many years. Really happy with a purchase 😀

Wow.... is the Adlib Gold THE most expensive retro computer part now? And i thought voodoo5 6k's were expensive! Even normal ''non Gold'' versions are rare and very expensive.

Seems that in 2016 a Gold was sold for 3400 and that was a used one and without a box or anything else. 2 Years later, sealed, boxed and complete.... yeah, that's an expensive item. 😲

So, since a voodoo5 6k is actually ''cheap'' now, i want one! 🤣
