Focus FK-2001 DIN keyboard (White Alps switches), $35 shipped from eBay
Apple ImageWriter II printer, $5 from thrift store

Printer initializes and then lights up the error LED, need to do some more troubleshooting. It's a beauty for sure, almost no yellowing at all. In the process of restoring the keyboard right now.

That keyboard is an XT/AT switchable keyboard.
The switch is hidden under the "2001" cover. Look for small indentations - you can then lift up the cover to reveal the switch.

Well, the switch hole is there...the switch itself, not so much. 😐

Do not despair! it is worth the effort to re-install a switch to re-enable this function. I have done this to a similar keyboard, but I wired it ON permanently. I needed an XT keyboard and I have many AT keyboards so it made sense to jumper the switch on permanently.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

I had a keyboard similar to that as well. Got an AT style keyboard boxed at a thrift store (in my trunk) and I'll check to see if it supports XT class machines as well.

That sound card was the first sound card I ever used on my first PC build back in 1999 when I was 13. I still have it! The ports are a bit broken unfortunately, from so many years of use in various machines. It's a great card! If you need drivers let me know. I have DOS and Windows 3.1 drivers.

They are good but Mortal Kombat 1 doesn't like them for some reason - probably not the cards fault tho the sound in MK is buggy. The CD version is probably OK with it, I should try that.

I wasn't actually hunting for this exact variant of Model F keyboard, but as it appeared yesterday on the local listing for 40$ equiv, I just hit it, not knowing that I was purchasing the model that is considered the most valuable (expensive) of all model Fs nowadays (going for 300$ or so on a regular basis - Geekhack info).

It varies a lot from older F XT model - it does not have the metal bottom and seems less rigid, but the quality is still top notch. I also very much like the way the keys work.

It's IBM Model F AT keyboard - compatible with AT protocol rather than wit XT - which makes it far more usable nowadays. The layout is also much less quirky.

I spent entire evening getting it looking nice again - nothing serious, it was just very dirty. I had to dissassemble it completely, as one of the springs came off and there is no way to put it back without cracking it all open. I must tell you, that bot dissassembly and reassembly of this piece is not easy at all. One can get frustrated, but I finally did it. And it works.

The metal plate inside shows some slight spots, and the foam is not the freshest, but I decided not to intervene where it was not really necessary.

How I loved those Focus 2001s!!!

Last ones I found was from a guy in US who took over some retailer's NOS, asking about 100 USD each, around 2010-2011. The price was too high, shipment was a a problem, and of course layout was not Turkish, so I was forced to decline.

🤣 I had an AST P133 which came with exactly the same mic, mouse. kb, annnddd.... those speakers.

They are infact quite good (for computer speakers) and I kept them for ages (P3/P4... maybe even used them on Core2Duo o.0) until I migrated to headphones.... best bit about them was.... if a police car was within ~30m radius, I could pick up all outgoing transmissions with them just being powered on 😎 ...

Story goes like this:

Was sat in my room one day (hadn't realised I left the speakers on) and then all of the sudden started hearing a one way conversation along the lines of ... "Can I get a check on an IC1 Male, 5ft... name is ******."... I was like.... whoa dem voices in my head are coming back o.0.... then I noticed it was coming from the speakers 😲 ... looked out my window and there was a Panda parked across my drive (not after me.... I should add)..

They didn't pick up incoming police transmissions, but I heard everything the copper in the car said on the radio. I grew up in a somewhat dodgy housing association estate (equiv of "the projects" in the US), and I knew the reprobate the police were after... til this day he doesn't know how I found out his middle and last name 😵

"Labtec" thats them!... been trying to remember the name of them for ages hoping someone would post something. Thanks!

It doesn't look overly exciting, but for those who have no idea what it is, it's the Gravis GF1 chip from the Ultrasound. I installed it in the dead $20 Ultrasound I bought a while back, and now the card is alive for the first time.

Turns out the card has 1MB RAM fitted too which I believe may be the maximum.

It is indeed maximum this card can handle.

I have just bought a "ScanPlus ECS". That is an internal Amiga500/2000 scandoubler.
As the Indevision ECS is no longer produced and is no longer in stock anywere, then this is the best I can go with.
Some reports on the internet that confirms 50hz smooth scrolling on LCD/TFT monitors.
(I hope that any of my monitors can do 50hz, else I need to find another flatscreen)

I know it is a new product, yet it falls into the vintage category. So for those interrested in what it is...

Super nice condition! How nice. The urine colored right speaker on the other hand...don't ya just love aging plastics?

Have you checked for a leaking battery yet and what are your plans for the system?

I didn't know IBM made AT layout style Model Fs. This thing looks so cool. If I ever run across one I definitely have to pick it up.

They feel really good, I even almost prefer them over my Model Ms. Less "heavy" feeling when pressed. /sacrilege

Today's journey resulted in yet another socket 7 PC, which I spent as much going to collect it (train & bus tickets) as the computer itself cost:

It's a GA-5SMM motherboard with a K6-2 500 and a not very standard matx case with a custom size power supply 😒

All because it contains this (and because it was local and no-one else was buying it...)

Add a cooling fan on there, man. I learnt that the hard way on my V3 2000, and I installed one on my V3 3000 last year. Odd the system has a K6-2/500, but no AGP slot (interesting, though).
