This arrived the other day. Guillemot 3D Prophet Geforce 256. Not sure if it is DDR or SDR.

That's a SDR and the RAM might only be running at 150MHz instead of the normal 166MHz.

That's horrible 64-bit SDR version and it's worse than GeForce 2 MX200 - http://www.ixbt.com/video/itogi-video/diag050 … 1024-q3-max.gif

Actually, I'm pretty sure this one is regular 32MB/128-bit. If the front RAM positions were populated, it would be a 64MB.

I think the best way to check is by running everest/aida32/64 or GPU Z and getting info. Also benching the card as well

I don't have any doubts about that Guillemot 3D Prophet Geforce 256 being 128 bit as gimped versions of 128 bit cards will have the memory setup differently than this with the memory being front and back on only two 32 bit channels vs spread out over all 4. What is odd is they chose to put it all on the other side of the card vs the gpu side but none the less it is 128 bit.

Among other things I got a panasonic PCMCIA CD-ROM drive with the original DOS install diskette. Pretty neat to have I guess. I don't see myself getting a DOS laptop, but who knows.

Never knew there were 64-bit GeForce 256s.

I wonder if my SDR card is 128-bit or 64-bit..

Got a minty Core 2 Quad Q9300 for my slow-burning hackintosh project, along with some other stuff. Ten bucks well spent!
It's replacing a Duo E8500 @ 3.16GHz, so I'm losing some clock speed, but I think the extra cores will be worth it for what I need it to do (audio & video editing.)

I wish I could upgrade my C2D Mac Mini with this instead, but Apple soldered in the CPU because of course they did.

Second that (but the RAM could be running at only 150MHz as I said before, see next page), here's a benchmark of the Guillemot 3D Prophet. The 3D Prophet still beats a TNT 2 Ultra, while the 64 bit GeForce 256 doesn't.

That GUS (Max?) in the background looks more interesting and retro than the C2Q.

No, it's 32MB.. AFAIK? Maybe I should check..

A big box of stuff arrived today.. Some of it was paid for, some of it was free gifts the seller threw in (I'll note the gifts).

A new-old stock AT Socket 370 motherboard:

A slotket with a PIII 700MHz CPU in it

Two pins from the CPU fell off immediately as soon as I removed it, and won't POST. I binned it. I can't complain though, considering all the rest (including an Avance Logic sound card with an OPL3 clone) came as free gifts:

Finally got a Roland MT-32 today! Cost me 160 EUR incl shipping. Came with the power supply and manuals, but no cables. I have the gameport to midi cable, but I'm not sure what kind of audio jacks this thing uses. It's an old model with no headphone output, and it doesn't have 3.5mm holes.

I'll only be able to test it when I get back home, but I've already tried to power it on. It works, but it looks like the potentiometer for the volume knob is broken. The knob only works when I press on it pretty hard, and the volume goes back quite a bit as soon as I release the knob. How hard is it to replace/fix it?

In the meantime, can I change the settings using MIDI commands, like on a CM-32L?

It is possible the pot just needs to be cleaned.

Yeah sounds like a bad oxidation issue to me.

What's the pot?

I really hope so, but the seller sent me a video beforehand where the volume was at 100 (he didn't use the knob in the video, though). However, now if I push the knob and try to get to 100, it will roll back to 82 once I release the knob.
