AGP and PCIe. Interesting combo. How surprising would it be to attempt to run Windows 98SE on that thing? Probably not (chipset dependent as well as drivers)?

Why would you say so? ES1373 is derived from Ensoniq's design.
Great haul! Hopefully they will all turn out to be functional.

Nothing wrong with Ensoniq, I just have issues with Creative buying them up and calling it "Sound Blaster". Am about to fire up the soldering iron and get to work on the MS6168. Also just got confirmation I should have a Diamond Monster Fusion, an Aztech card with Wavetable on it (not sure of type, but looks like an 826) and some Yamaha-based ISA card incoming.

About MS6168... I had it for some time but sold it last year. Most caps were leaking and yet the board still worked fine. No stability issues at all. I hope you can fix it 😀

Today started awfully frustratingly with someone on Marktplaats having too much interesting stuff, but terrible communication (like listing the same items three times in different combinations, telling me to bid publicly after I messaged him - fair enough- but then selling to someone else five minutes after he overbid me by all of EUR 3 (which I would happily have topped) 🙁 ).

I have the same experiences (I guess yours was with that Voodoo card seller 'piet'?). Some sellers on MP are just a waste of time. It also seems some sellers are afraid of ending their emails with their real name. Or just to type complete sentences at all seems to be a problem for some 😒 Others don't reply anymore (or extremely briefly) after you ask questions or when you've emailed them a detailed and fair as-is offer. Whenever I see ads with valuable hardware just 'dumped' on MP, without any decent pictures or a detailed description, I either don't want it at all or I offer a low 'as-is' price to compensate for the extremely risky transaction. Unfortunately MP is full of morons these days 😢

Yep:

All it took was replacing one nameless 2700uF 6.3V cap. I didn't have exactly that rating, the alternatives were 2200uF and 3600uF, and given that my Matsushita 2200uF (16V) was already significantly larger than the old one and no way would my 3600uF Nichicon have fit - and that I strongly suspect the old one wouldn't have lived up to spec even when brand new, I went with the 2200uF. The board seems to agree with me 😀

How'd you guess 😉
- although it was missing the Mediavision PAS16 that really pissed me off.

Not sure it was ever any better, or that sellers elsewhere (apart from specialist/community forums like Amibay) are any better. Still, I make a point of being as polite as possible towards anyone who is a positive exception, i.e. does bother to communicate decently.

Bought a bunch of Pentium II's for around $20 the other day. Also some SECC PIIIs and Celerons, but didn't take pics of those. Took some pics of the PIIs though, thought I'd share here.

Parts:

SL2QA: 233MHz x 3
SL2QB: 266MHz x 1
SL2QC: 300Mhz x 1
SL3U3: 350MHz x 2

SL37C: 450MHz x 3 (PIII)

I am unsure of the Celeron model, but it was two of the same.

Oh, so beautiful!
Imho P2 in the original SECC package is the best looking CPU of all times.

Do you have any bigger photo ? this could make a nice windows 9x wallpaper 😁

Couldn't agree more. Exactly why I bought them. I can't use that many PIIs, but I sure can display them! 🤣 Plus it doesn't hurt to have them around in case I want to use them, especially at the price I paid.

I edited the post to make the images clickable for the full (which is half) size, otherwise the images were 5-6MB. But more than enough for any Win9x wallpaper!

I wouldn't mind making some wallpapers in the style of the old Intel promo & press pics. I've got the processors and the reference images, I just need to get the technique and adequate backgrounds down. Still figuring out how to use the camera and haven't fully got the photography setup I was given set up... and by that I mean it's still in the box.

Saw this on eBay for a really good price and it looked like an interesting board to have a play around with. Came with a C2D 6700 as a bonus.

Its a Asrock 4CoreDual-SATA2

LqpFGzjl.jpg?1

Had one of these. It might actually run 98SE, I can't remember, but I have one of it's sister boards (with only PCI-E and DDR1 RAM) running ME with a PCI-E X800.

That said, not the most stable board, runs a bit slow, and doesn't support much RAM without an unofficial patch.

Still fun to play with though.

It's doable but I found it to be a bit flaky (achieved it last year) - though that could have been any number of things, from the PCIE card to the SATA drive, the board itself (I've had a few ASRock boards and they aren't exceptionally stable) or even the Unofficial Service Pack. Might try again with an AGP card and the RLoew patch one day.

Oh I saw the "piet" items! Bunch of good stuff, but no reply indeed. Occasionally I enjoy looking around MP for mislabeled / poorly labeled stuff—you can usually get it cheap. For example, found the 2 following cards this weekend and got them yesterday;

Fair use/fair dealing exception

They are a Radeon 9800XT and a Quadro FX 1000, labeled respectively as Radeon 9550 and Geforce FX 5200—both work perfect, too! I low-balled both sellers, only the Quadro guy haggled to get a couple more euros. (Is it unethical? I'm usually thrilled to find these, but when I get them I feel a pinch of guilt.)

Jup, I was also interested in some of that hardware (*cough* Diamond Edge 3D 2120 and that PAS *cough*). But man that guy made a mess of things. Dionb, I guess you are getting that Aztech Waverider and Yamaha ISA soundcard from him? Since I had also showed interest in them to him yesterday let's see what he tells me 😜

Ah well, nothing lost in the end, just a bit of time. I will need to start selling stuff soon to make space, but I don't know where to sell yet. Marktplaats sellers can be annoying, but Markplaats buyers even more so 🤣

It does run Win 98, I'm running it on my machine with Pentium E6500K and Radeon 9500.

Well, it's only a question of newest unofficial BIOS, which can be updated from Windows, so not really a problem I would say.

Socket 775 - ASRock 4CoreDual-VSTA, Pentium E6500K, 4GB RAM, Radeon 9800XT, ESS Solo-1, Win 98/XP
Socket A - Chaintech CT-7AIA, AMD Athlon XP 2400+, 1GB RAM, Radeon 9600XT, ESS ES1869F, Win 98

I've already paid for the Waverider, Yamaha thingy and the Diamond Monster Fusion, so I'd better be getting them... 😉

Same here. WIll start om Amibay I think, then move onto alternatives (such as Marktplaats) later. Unless I have something truly worth money, in which case eBay might be worth it (if that ST-412 actually works and isn't full of bad sectors it might deserve that treatment... at least as long as I don't just keep it as a conversation piece 😉 )

A second SCC-1 as well (no box, bare card with accessories including 3,5" floppy and adapter cables) Not that I needed those but nice to make my boxed copy above complete 😀

Putting this one to good use, I hope.
