Personally I like the idea of "mascots" on video cards. Half-naked elf babes may not be too mature, but it's still an interesting quirck of the era 🤣
Its certainly more interesting than how today card makers just slap "GAMING", "G1" or "FTW" along with e-sports team sponsorships on their boxes.

My builds!
The FireStarter 2.0 - The wooden K5
The Underdog - The budget K6
The Voodoo powerhouse - The power-hungry K7
The troll PC - The Socket 423 Pentium 4

Single socket s940 board... very nice, these things are not easy to find. I'm not sure it supports 90nm CPUs though.

I had some hopes because below said it could take Opteron Venus CPU's.

http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-ASUS/SK8N.html

But then I realized that Venus may not have supper for Registered DDR memory. It must be a snafu because in AMD's wisdom, they decided to make SledgeHammer and Venus Opterons have the same naming scheme (e.g. Opteron 150 could be Sledgehammer or Venus).

This. I hate e-Sports commercialization.

I just view e-Sports the same as I do NFL or NASCAR. I don't watch it, but I may follow up on the stats just for the sake of discussions.

Some modern video cards have nice designs too. I like NVIDIA and ATIs reference designs lately. They have nice streamlined edges that remind you of a well built sports car. IMO MSIs Twin Frozr coolers also look quite nice.

Well... I like visual aestetics too. Don't get me wrong on that. Still glad that they got rid of those manga/porn chicks and dragons. Personally I really like the visuals of a card like the one below. No ugly artwork, the hardware is the artwork in it self....

Else... I want BIG chips and LOTS of them, like early 90's soundcards. (read Gravis Ultrasound and SB-Pro 2.0)

I think the fastest CPU is maybe Opteron 256 or something?

256 and 856 are the fastest.

You're right, it only supports Sledgehammer chips. FX-53 is as fast as the Opteron 150 / 250 / 850, the only difference being that the Opterons have three hyper transport links.

Not to take away from these because I'm sure they'll be great, but Startech make a new AT PSU which I've found to be great. I have them in 4 machines and have no complaints:

This may be a stupid question but I genuinely have no idea despite owning several.

What is the reversed 3 pin port on AT PSUs used for?

Connecting a monitor so both turn on and off at the same time without using the monitor power button.

I feel old for having used that all the way until maybe 2000.

Or for ATX psus that are using the same kind of technique but doesn't turn on/off the monitor if the pc is running or not, it's just used to spare one plug on the wall

I did purchase a new AT PSU back in 2012, but the cooling fan's bearing went out, tried to lube the fan, and the PSU went out with a bang, I then purchased an ATX to AT adapter to use a modern ATX PSU in my 486 and K6-2 300 machine, and it worked great, and I didn't realize my K6-2 300 can use an ATX PSU (jumper-less configuration, just had to set the Power Supply type in the BIOS from K8/K9 to ATX), and I've been using an ATX PSU ever since (don't have to flip the switch to turn it off), but I like the flip switch (still have the flip switch on the computer).

Bought seven (that is 7 in numerals) brand new in box Radeon 9800s for a criminally low price.. not sure what to do with them likely keep one or two and sell the rest.

Looks like a clone of the nVidia GeForce MX 4000 Series cards. I have the MX 4000 PCI myself, and it sucks. Luckily, I got a new heatsink and the card still works, even with one cap broken off.

Well I never had a Kyro card, so I am going to try it out. It probably won't be great though.

Kyro is a chipset from SGS Thomson. The graphics chip will be STG4000 or STG4003.
