CT1330A the original (first) Sound Blaster PRO (not the quite popular CT1600 SB Pro2)

This SB has uniq feature: when you play a opl2 (mono) music, each of olp2 chip makes drums(noise) sound a bit different, so this makes a pseudo-stereo effect.

This was advertised as an IBM ThinkPad 380ED, but actually that's a 380XD ! The model number is 2635-9A0, I hope that's the model with the TFT screen (I looked at the video LGR made about another 380XD and he has the same model number, so maybe mine is exactly the same ? That would be awesome because that means I don't have to look for any other retro laptop 😁)

Only problem right now : I don't have the power adaptor so I can't turn on the damn thing 🙁

Yeah, 233MHz MMX to be exact, that's really good because I only expected a Pentium 166MHz MMX ^^. Plus the L2 cache is doubled.

I will finally be able to get rid of all my crappy/dead Toshiba laptops and some other retro laptops that I do not appreciate

Nice. I remember my middle school teacher had one of these. Probably the very first TP I'd ever seen...

FWIW, it should be very easy to access the HDD on these ones (panel on the side). I know the earlier 380* models (including 380ED) were a lot more difficult in this regard.

Continuing the quest for tiny laptops (full blown computers), I found this for sale for cheap. Looks to maybe have a BIOS password, but it is easy to clear out. Just have to reset the BIOS.

Not sure of the exact model, but it has either a 1.06 or 1.2 Ghz Core Solo CPU and either 512MB or 1GB RAM. (Edit : found the specific model number. It is the one with the 1.2Ghz CPU and 1GB RAM) 😀
Screen is 4.5" with a 1024x600 resolution.
Looks like it comes with all accessories AND the optional port replicator 😀
Should make a nice little portable DOSBOX machine or maybe even Win98SE with dos games from Windows command prompt machine... doubt it will do Win98SE though as I really doubt that I can find all the needed drivers, especially touchscreen.
The specs say the sound is Windows Sound System compatible, so who knows exactly what sound chip it has... maybe something that I can get working in real DOS.

Edit: The screen slides down to cover the keyboard.

Wow, cyclone3d. I guess maybe I had forgotten about the UX series, but seeing your photo immediately gave me several ideas of what I would do with that machine if I had one in my possession. Glad you got a deal.

Paul Blart Mall Cop had that type of system.

Yeah, I saw this for sale and the price the person was selling it at.... and looked at other current sales and past sales and the price was very, very, very good.

I went and looked up the drivers for it, and it has a Realtek HDA chip for the audio. People say it works in DOS, 3.1, and 2000 (XP, Vista, 7/8/8.1 drivers exist as well), so I am not sure what to think as I am only seeing drivers for 2000/XP and newer.

There're a lot of movies and TV Shows that debuted the Commodore 64: http://www.starringthecomputer.com/computer.html?c=66

Also, I figured the Paul Blart: Mall Cop had that Vaio UX in there.

It should be just your average everyday HD Audio codec, attached to the Intel ICH7 series southbridge in there. I'm not sure that combination is very well supported for DOS/Win9X.

Btw nice find!!

MAN has there ever been a strong Sound Blaster Pro box theme throughout today's posts. Ha!

Wasn't the Sound Blaster Pro the first card to have DMA implemented? Also, does an Aztech Sound Galaxy NX Pro count as an SB Pro 2 variant? I also believe (correct me here) the SB Pro utilized a pair of YM3812 chipsets whereas the Pro 2 uses the YMF-262M chip.

Creative Labs Graphics Blaster Exxtreme

What a strange box. The 3D marble-textured word 'Graphics' doesn't match anything else in Creative's product line and the misspelled "EXXTREME" just looks horribly unprofessional. (I know it was the '90s and everything was 'exxtreme' or 'x-treme' or 'X-tr33m', but still.) If I saw that in a shop I'd assume it was a pirate knockoff.

What chipset is on that thing? Rendition? Riva?

Graphics Blaster Exxtreme uses a Permedia 2 chip. Nothing really special.
