Good that you have two. You should leave instructions that you are to be buried with those two coins on your eyes!

Won this auction for "Assorted Computer Components Lot".

Nowhere in the description did it say what they were actually selling, but I am pretty sure that's an Awe 32 PNP with some sort of add-on module. I'm not really sure what the add-on module is though.

It also includes a unknown Trident ISA VGA card. The third card is a bit of a mystery. There is no IO on it, but it seems to have an IDE or Floppy port on it. Maybe its an IDE or Floppy controller card?

I don't think anyone else really knew what they were selling, so I got a very good deal, assuming they all work.

These cards finally arrived a couple of days ago.

The cards are the Awe32 CT3990, the Wave Blaster II daughter card, a Trident TVGA8900C ISA SVGA card and a Creative CT1870 controller card. I was mainly interested in the Awe32, but the Trident card will come in handy in a 286 or 386 computer somewhere down the road. I probably won't be using the CT1870 though.

I have installed the Awe32 in my latest build and it works perfectly!

This was definitely one of my best finds recently!

Been grabbing a bunch of different PS/2 to DB9 Serial adapters one at a time over the past couple months, trying to find one that would work with my Microsoft IntelliMouse that does clearly say "Serial or PS/2 Compatible" on the bottom. Don't actually need to use this mouse with a serial port at the moment, but just wanted to make sure I had what I needed should the need arise.

Anyway, of course as most know, not all of these adapters actually work with PS/2 mice (even if it does say right on the mouse that it's "serial compatible"). I've found that trying to find the correct one was challenging and ended up getting several ones that did not work. Problem is that most of these adapters don't have any labelling on them and they all look fairly similar. Anyway, got two the other day finally that both did work. Figured I'd share what they looked like so anyone else looking for these in the future knows what to look for:

J3OQMjZm.jpg

The one on the left actually does say "Microsoft" on it as you can see, which the seller's photo did not show, heh. The one on the right has no labelling other then the little arrow picture. But it also works just as well as the one on the left.

These next two seem to be very common on eBay. They do not work with my Microsoft PS/2 IntelliMouse, so maybe stay clear of them!

I thought that adapter is for Miro Voodoo2 😁 because must make one for my card
I got same problems like you with non-compatibility ... same with PS/2 - USB adapter, better use COM mouse for COM ports.

Got myself another loot box yesterday 😉

Not too spectacular this time, the centerpiece is that Intel MU440EX board, with Rage Pro and Yamaha YMF940 onboard. Was sort of hoping the CPU was going to be a Celeron 333A (this was the exact config of my work PC back in 2000 - MU440EX, C333A and 64MB RAM), but no, it's a 266MHz Covington. Apart from that some nice little VGA cards, including a Diamond Speedstar A50 (if anyone was ever going to love a SiS-based card they'd love this one) and an STB Nitro 64V (GD5446-based) with socketed EDO chips. Lots of DIMMs, although most with very low capactiy - 4x 16MB, 2x 32MB and that big one is a whopping 64MB. Great for maxing out the cacheable area of an i430VX or Via VPX, not for much else. The upper PSU is interesting, a very, very heavily built Dell 250W affair. Interesting bit is that it actually has a normal ATX pinout.

Encountered one odd one in the pile of cables:

Anyone know what this one is for?

Could it be http://pinoutguide.com/Motherboard/dell_optip … nt_pinout.shtml ? Keyed on pin 21 and goes with the Dell theme 😀

Looks very likely given the abundance of other Dell stuff in this load, although that Dell PSU doesn't look like something out of a GX280...

I believe that pinout was used throughout the entire midnight-grey Dell Optiplex line, so GX50/GX150 all the way up to GX280. Nice score on the power supply, should be a good candidate for anything that calls for a 250W ATX supply. I actually have a newer (P4-era standard) ATX Dell 200W PSU in my Celeron-433 build and it's pretty solid. Of course, be sure to check the capacitors just in case.

What better way to celebrate my 50th post here on Vogons than a good old boxed Roland? Uhh...two boxed Roland!!? Well, either way I'm not the man spitting on a relatively rare NIB/NOS item offered at a below "going rate" (from the Amibay..). Passing one of these to a fellow (retro) enthusiast leaving me one, though. That said, already had one of these SCM-10AT boxed babies along with their big brother, the mighty SCM-15AT, so she is definitely not going to feel her alone!! Not caring much about about wavetables inside but piling up some boxed Roland "intelligent mode" cards in one's inventory can only mean a good thing..

bDGtdWyh.jpg

This then..a bit too "modern" for my liking but decided to catch this Terratec Mystify 4600 (Ti4600) regardless. I don't see (sealed) GeForce4 Ti4600 cards too often so nice to add one to my collection. Plus that it should make a decent Windows 98 card if I ever get interested in those Windows era games again, I believe.
