Motorola MDT 9100-386. CRT equipped vehicle computer for radiocommunications. On the inside it's a 25mhz 386SX with 4mb ram onboard, SCSI, dual serial, parallel, 640x480 monochrome VGA, two PCMCIA slots and 4mb of flash memory. 9100 machines show up on ebay a few times a year but it's rare to get the -386 model which is about the best unit you could get in this package and this one had a lower than usual price because it looks like it was sitting outside for quite a while....

IT'S BEAUTIFUL. Seriously, now I want one. And I don't have the means recently. In fact, I am selling some of my gear. 🙁 BUT I WANT ONE REGARDLESS.

Okay, good to know, thanks. Now it's time to wait for the 9 Pin D-Sub cable which of cause didn't think about buying earlier..

Ha, so I'm not the only one 😜

I have a whole bag of DE9 cables. I assumed at least one of them would be fully straight cabled. I assumed wrong 😵

Would you be so kind to maybe provide the exact name of the ebay listing so I can check out it aswell? I've checked every Matrox Millenium on ebay.nl and couldn't find it.

He was referring to the monitors, not the Matrox card.

Oh snap you are right. I guess my brain read what it wanted to read 😁

😀

I would definitely like to find a box with NOS Matrox Millenniums!

For those looking for a NOS 17'' Dell LCD, check ebay seller medappvet. He does accept offers. Good luck.

My 486 arrived -- Cyrix 486S-25MHz integrated into a half width baby-AT board, Opti/AD sound card, 1MB Trident video, 4MB RAM.. interesting. Case fascia has been repainted by a previous owner -- I'll probably sand it down because they did a crappy job, and the pegs that hold the face on are all busted off and they tried to hot glue them back. At least they're all there and I can fix it. Anyhow, it booted right up off the 120MB hard drive and everything is fully functional. I was surprised, because I saw it get delivered on my security cam and the box was smashed to hell.

Bought some parts for my planned low end real mode gaming PC build:

s-l1600.jpg
cacheless 486 mobo with hardware UMB and EMS support (for technical details see this thread)

a lot with containing a few possibly useful cards, a few of them:

Winbond chipped multi I/O card for connecting mouse

s-l1600.jpg

SMC floppy/IDE controller

and this strange thing:

s-l1600.jpg

Looks like some pcmcia thingy to me.
Maybe a historically-correct way to use solid state disks on a mid-1990s build?

I was not expecting the CGA card. Now I have an excuse to get an MCE2VGA 😀 I have no idea if the system works, hopefully some ISA VGA cards I have will work with it after I clean it up. Some of the traces are iffy. I am crossing my fingers on this one.

PCCHIPS 486 with EISA

IMG-4695-resize.jpg

More likely to be OPTI local bus...but it's still interesting, because it's the first time I've seen it with a PCchips chipset.

It is an ISA to PCMCIA adapter so you can use PCMCIA cards with a desktop.

Beige case and Creative logo blends nicely with each other.

Never thought this thread would be that long, but now, for something different.....

Just bought this 386 motherboard off ebay today. It was advertised as working, so I am hoping that there will not be much pain in getting it to work.
s-l1600.jpg

When I was looking at the ad, I noticed a couple of interesting things about it that caught my eye:
First, it uses SIPPs. The ad said it is maxed out in RAM capacity.
Second, it includes the 387 coprocessor.
Third, and possibly most interestingly, it has a spot for a 287. This is the most interesting thing in my opinion. Why would a 386 motherboard use a 287? Does it use it in addition to the 387? Or is it perhaps just for if you were too cheap to buy a 387?
s-l1600.jpg

This is my first desktop 386 machine, so I am pretty excited to add it to my collection. I have a PS/2 P70 and a Compaq SLT 386/20, but I have never owned a desktop 386.
