I wonder if they can't be reflashed even if bricked whitout getting the ROM chip off.

I agreed to pick up this case for 10 bucks tonight.

Not a looker but it looks a lot like the Dell Dimension XPS D cases, which I really love, so I am looking forward to moving my K6-2/500 Voodoo 2 SLI system to this case. No idea what the hardware inside is at all, if there is anything useful that will be a bonus. Otherwise, it will be scrapped.

I have zero interest in it so it will be scrapped. I may retain the graphics card if it's an MX440 or something, I need a card of that caliber for an IBM Thinkcenter I am working on..

Just got this baby for under 22€.

Only description is that with some random vga card, the picture didn't come up. But we'll see.

It does have Math-co processor also. (Y)

I have a Micron Pentium II box in one of those Dell cases. They were also used for some Mac clones.

That would be worth the gamble for less than 22 euro for me as well. Hopefully the leaking battery didn't do too much damage.

I decided to re-enter the world of retro laptop computers by bidding on this Highscreen "LeBook Advance".

Specs:
CPU = Pentium MMX 200 MHz
RAM = 80 MB
Display = 13.3" XGA TFT, 1024x768
HDD = apparently missing, but I have several in storage, so not a big deal

So why did I get this particular model? Long story short: It is very similar to the first notebook that my parents purchased back in 1997 (although I doubt they had the 13 inch model, if I recall correctly theirs was 12 inch and 800x600). So I bought it out of pure nostalgia. Highscreen used to be a trademark of the German retailer VOBIS.
This unit was in good shape, came with the power supply, and was very reasonably priced at only 5€ + shipping.
Next time I am at my parents' house, I will try to find the original invoice...

I even found the original ad from 1997-07-24, which has all the specs. It was priced at 7499 Deutsche Mark, which would be about 4000€ in todays money.
Unfortunately my unit seems to lack the CD-ROM drive, so getting Win 95 installed is going to be a bit of a challenge. Probably I'll just stick the HDD in another pc, partition it, throw the Win 95 CD's contents on it, boot from a floppy and run setup. Should work well.

Got myself this cute lil' Sony 9042QM monitor, well, I bought it on the 9th of January, and it only arrived today, it came from all the way in Italy.

This unit is dated from January 2002, and it's in very good condition, the tube looks brand new.

I have a PVM-9L1 from 2004 that has a composite video issue, but S-video and audio work without issues. Going to replace the composite BNC stacked jacks with a new one since some of my equipment only works with composite and I cannot remember where I placed the composite to s-video adapter.

Come to think of it, haven't we seen more AdLib Golds and Creative 3D Blasters surface in the last few years than we've seen original Pro Audio Spectrums?

I spend my days fighting with clunky software so I can afford to spend my evenings fighting with clunky hardware.

Well, we do have Hard1k and Artex, so it makes sense. Still, I don't think the 8 bit PAS are as rare as MCA audio cards.
