I have one of these, an MMX-200 IIRC.. I never thought it could be useful, but then I should have known better - I've seen more than enough Socket As with broken retainer clips..

These Intel glued-on coolers are God-awful in terms of noise though. They're even noisy when connected via a voltage-dropping resistor.

Nice ! That is a CT3910 Jumper Set SB AWE32, great for older systems due to not being Plug-n-Pray ( I have one similar, think mine's a CT3900), they are quite rare and very expensive if you find a working one. Hope your works !

Just curious, why does lot of OEMs back in the day skip the regular motherboards and use all in one motheboards with limited slot risers, even the ones with 5 slot riser is roomy enough to have a 7 or 8 slot chassis would use standard board or semi standard motherboard instead?

Because serial, ltp, mouse, keyboard even in some cases sound were incorporated in the mobo including stuff like vlb hdd and video support hardware. No need for extra expansion slots at all.

I was not aware of that. Only that I wanted to own and play around with an awe32. Bonus 😀

For my next retro project, an ISA/AT slot for my dual Tualatin board, I ordered some card edge connectors from the bay … well, shipping times from Taiwan - got to be patient. Furthermore the cost for shipping is higher than the price for the 5pc set.

On "Kleinanzeigen" I found a really beautiful Samtron 98PDF CRT, it needs a little refurbishing and cleaning but I got it for free (almost - it was a two hour ride).

Finally I payed a ridiculous amount of money for a Voodoo5 5500 AGP from the bay.

Thank you for your kind offer but I already ordered and payed for those card edge connectors. A 5pc set for 3.33 Euros, NOS probably.

Was surprised by the case - I expected a Squarius II case (which I love), this one is... different and ugly IMHO. Apart from extra RAM and WinXP OS, this thing is entirely in original state. Given I don't like the case I'll not use it for other builds, so I'll probably just restore it to its original WinME glory - there's a valid key on the side in any event.

Won a Sega Mega CD 2 (PAL) on eBay. Received it last week, wouldn't read discs. Seller told me that it was working the moment they packaged it. Turns out that during shipping, the spindle sat a little downwards and trapped the laser assembly... Easy fix. Was very noisy, too. At some point in this machine's life, the spindle's metal plate broke loose, and the magnet under the CD lid had become unstuck, breaking the plastic damper disc's holders. During a botched repair, somebody used that metal plate in the bottom part of the lid to hold the magnet in place, just above the plastic damper disc, so when the CD was rotating inside, the top part knocked it sideways causing both read failures and horrible noise as the plastic parts hit. Took a while to understand how all of this is supposed to work, but it was nothing some glue couldn't fix - now every CD is always level while rotating and it's all silent now! Been playing Sonic CD since Sunday... The ML2016 battery seems to hold a charge too. Don't know for how long, but it seems to be charging!

Love that console. Had to sell off my entire console/games collection when my daughter was born. Miss them a bit!

I was digging through my motherboards and discovered that I did in fact own an Asus Media Bus motherboard! Unfortunately, it is a Media Bus 2.0 motherboard and the video/audio card I bought is a 1.2. Still cool to have one -- I don't think I even knew about this bus when I got the motherboard years ago.

Terratec 24/96 sound card.

It is an 20 inch Dell 2001-fp monitor. It is from 2004. This means 15khz signal for my Amiga's and because it has VGA, DVI, Composit and S-Video. Then I can use it for my Commodore64's as well. 50hz smooth scrolling. Spaghetti lines / jailbars can be eliminated with a lumafix if I want to. I have only tested it with Commodore64 with the use of S-Video cable. Only one tiny dead pixel, and that is well to the right in the screen. I did not notice it when playing Winter Games.
