Spotted this Asus Geforce 4 Ti4400 for £9 Shipped so snapped it up. It arrived in a thin Jiffy envelope and no anti-static bag, the bracket was bent and the cooler was hanging off! I thought it was doomed but it cleaned up really well and works great. Put it through a good few runs of 3DMark 2000SE without a hitch.

I was never one to seek out boxed hardware, but I couldn't pass up this opportunity.

I'm surprised the card didn't get lost in a box that big 😀

See my graphics card database at www.gpuzoo.com
Constantly being worked on. Feel free to message me with any corrections or details of cards you would like me to research and add.

Love it or hate it. It's a matter of taste. Shipping was a killer but all in all for such a rare and unique case I was happy to get it for what i paid.

Feast your eyes on the Asus Vento 3600, a rare and beautiful case from circa 2005.

This case immediately reminds me of the Guild Navigator scene in the original 1984 Dune movie.

Got these today for $20. Green one is dead, but the gold one has passed all tests.

Interesting, I’ve never seen a green PCB M919 module.

I have tubes of NOS cache chips for these if you want to get it working

Bought this Toshiba Satellite 220CS for 5€ + shipping. I don't have a suitable power supply for it to test it, but i think it is Pentium 133MHz, at least 16MB RAM, 800x600 screen, Yamaha OPL3-SA3 SB Pro compatible sound card.

IMGP2067_.jpg

I have a feeling this wasn't such a good buy, even at 5€. I bought an universal charger, and the machine just lit power leds, and kept flashing caps lock led. After opening the case, the reason is quite obvious:

Under that metal plate is Varta NiMH battery for clock and larger 7.2V battery (maybe to be able to swap the main battery without shutting down the laptop first). Horrible mess. Motherboard doesn't look too bad. I cleaned it, and it seems like there is only one or two traces broken. But they are thinner than a hair, and I think it will be too difficult for me to repair. I might as well try, this machine is junk anyways.

That looks terrible! It's probably easier to try to use a wire to directly connect the components the broken traces were connecting.

I replaced a 370-pin cpu socket and recapped a motherboard in just over 2 hours: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZ7Moxa2JhI

Shameless self promotion, i know.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

Nice work, you've got to get those tits in the little slot! I hate those single clip retention's, much prefer when they use all three lugs to spread the load.

Cheers

Oh wow I haven't seen that case since my Sr. Year of high school. I built two systems for friends in that case it really wasn't a bad case to work in. Seriously nice find! I was going through stuff at my parents house awhile back and I found an original CM 690 case still in its box. I bought it for a project back in 08 and just never did anything with it. My spring project will be to move my socket 775 system into it.

Great haul Abulak, wish there was a place like that in northern va. There was/is a place in crestline ohio I used to visit but they don't have old stuff anymore.

And Luckybob gj, didn't know you were fatguywithold computers, I stumbled on that channel year ago maybe longer and saw that great Ppro haul but I never knew that was you.

I have something special for the vento 3600, Too be announced but it will be a legendary build, perhaps similar to others but not like no other.

Are you kidding me!?!

Where on earth was this ewaste facility!?

🤣

Even with the missing brackets and heatsinks, that is just a stupidly valuable lot of stuff to find. I have had my hands of several hundred old PC components in recent years, and I've only found ONE CT1330A... and it had all the capacitors stripped from it, which I had to replace myself (and it still doesn't work just right). You found SIX in one location at scrap prices... 😮

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

Too bad Scott's Bargains closed, used to be a great place.
