Got these two external ZIP drives with several ZIP floppy disks. One of them was never used. I've never worked with ZIP drives. Should be interesting.

What's the thinking behind bidding something up that you don't want? Just to be an A-hole?

I wanted it at 1st, but then I realized someone put a high bid on it that was more than what I think it was worth IE not being a 24mb version. That person didn't win it anyways. However if youre going to bid $88 dollars for something than you deserve to pay that otherwise don't bid. The person who won it came in at the last 10 seconds. And was willing to pay anything for it apparently. Whats worst? Making someone pay what they bid for something or snipping items that you haven't bid on the last 2nd. Probably better to not try to attach moral authority.

Thanks, great forward thinking. Australian 👍🏻. No wonder people tend to believe that old items have to be expensive when titled retro. You’re probably not the only one.

You’re kiddin, right? At least I hope you are. What’s wrong with being lucky and snatch something for less than you’re willing to pay?

If you want to snatch something on ebay just watch it don't bid and just put your best bid in the last few seconds. Otherwise you will pay whatever price you auto bid up to what the other bidders are not willing to pay if there are other bidders. Thats it If a bid starts at 50 and I bid 500 and I am the only bidder I get that for 52. But if you come and bid 450 and say I dont want to bid anymore, I pay 450 not 52 thats exactly how it works. I am responsible for what I decided to pay.

Whatever, I don't have a problem with it as long as whoever bids a value is prepared to put the money down when they win.

If you bid too much and you win, that's on you and you still should pay for it.

Todays haul. I was lucky to get both for less than I was prepared to pay.

I keep it simple in my life. I put in the highest amount I'm willing to pay from the get-go and if bidding goes higher than that I have a heart attack and die.

@liqmat actually ECS was decent before they bought PCChips in the late 90's. Now you get why they went downhill afterwards ? ^^

It was more the other way around. Hsing Tech, the parent outfit of PC Chips, actually bought a large stake in ECS before merging with them.

Really ? That's interesting, but that explains why they "chose" that path.

I recently won two computer auctions for their starting bid despite being willing to pay more, that was nice.

the main reason why I usually bid seconds before an auction ends is not sneakily outbidding others but protect myself from being tempted to bid more than I initially wanted to in case I get outbid ^^

got this cute little Axion CV-1053 10" VGA monitor :3
I already had another one of these but with some rather concerning issues it sounds almost like the flyback is arcing and causes image glitches
will have to see some day if I can repair the other one, but this one is practically new :3

Very good description of how and why I do my bidding.

Yep. Just to be an a-hole. If you don't want something, it's pure ignorance to bid just to make someone else pay more.

At $88 would have been worth it but at $200+ = no way ! I saw your picture and it jumped to ~$130 then over $200 which is retarded . I do not think you hurt anything if all you did was raise it up to the $88
If you were 4***3 I would be laughing that you paid $222 for it if you won 😁

Hate posting a reply and have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. 🤣 Second computer a 286 12Mhz with real IDE drive ! After that came 386, 486, Pentium, P.Pro and everything after....
