That's insane! I thought I had a lot - I would estimate maybe 1Kg. But that's no guarantee you will have any you need 😀

Yah, I'd probably still run out of 5mm and shorter M3s and those self tap fan screws.

Bought 2 AT computers without HDD. Inside there were two socket 3 motherboards with 486 120 MHz CPU. One of them has Dallas battery and the other has bq3287AMT. Does anyone know if the bq3287AMT can be modified like the Dallas chip? The seller also threw in o few other cards and a lifetime supply of computer screws (12 Kg).

bq3287AMT and Dallas are interchangeable.

For me that box looks like pure frustration... Used screws in unsorted and unknown condition.

So when you 're building a retro machine, you use only new and sorted screws?

Any screw in good condition will do as long as the components they hold don't fall apart

Is there any other reason at all NOT to use good older screws prey tell?

I have bought the Diamond Viper V770 Ultra on a local 2nd hand website.
The interesting part it how it was packaged and sent to my house.
I think I was very lucky that it surfived.

Yeah, Shopgoodwill.com is like that as well, though. Fortunately, 99% of the cards I received worked without issues and the one had a broken cap and the soldering failed on that one. It was a crappy video card anyways.

And that is why you get a storage container or containers with a bunch of different compartments.

I would have gone insane years ago if I didn't have my computer screws sorted.

Was randomly browsing eBay for ISA cards and came across a seller dumping a boatload of these for $18ea. Bought one for my Diamond Edge 3D. I was going to make one in KiCAD, but it now looks like I'll have an original. 😀

Ima sneak into your house and salt your collection with small BA, BSW and BSF screws. Muhuahahaaaaa .... and if I'm in a really bad mood.. some tiny NPT pipe plugs and bleed screws. 🤣

I've had my kids get into them before. Takes me about 30 minutes to sort them all out again.

Since I noticed that my 286 is too slow for most MT32/SC-55 games I decided to use it in my upcoming 386 system together with a ESS soundcard .

P1-133 with Win3.11
Tandon 286-8MHZ Running DOS 5.0 on XT-IDE Card

Popped into a thrift, nothing super good. Actually last time I got anything "good, good" in that one was probably over a decade ago, so not sure why I bother... but today, it gave me a sealed pack of CD-RWs, and a universal laptop adapter that does 12-24V with all the tips, for $3 a piece so that was stuff I could use for cheap. For some reason I've nearly run down my stock of CDs and the DVDs have multiplied, I've got 5 different spindles of the damn things kicking around and I don't know how that happened. Adapter will be great for testing.

Edit: Just thunk, maybe that adapter will give the Goldstar GS520 the kick in the pants needed to wake it up, says it needs 3.3A on 18V, but a 3.4A supply wouldn't do it, so I wonder if it tells a little porky-pie* and needs a higher surge current to wake up, this should give it 4.5A.

*lie.

So I managed to spend $45 on something that isn't working currently. I don't mind this, since it came with damn near everything I could need.

I will be trying to figure out just what the problem with the machine is soon, but until then, I can't really complain. I mean, it even came with the best game for the system Personal Record Keeping.

Not exactly "today", but i just have to share... NIB, purchased locally back in 1998 and never used, just stored away and forgoten about, till now.

Ps- Perhaps this AT case is from 1996, im guessing from the warranty sticker on the PSU when they were both possibly mated together at the same time.
