There are 30 NIB Antec/chieftec full towers for $50 a few miles for me. Unfortunately he says must take all 🙁

$50 for all or just one?

What are you waiting for? You can easily triple your investment if you bought those just by listing on eBay. I'd be all over that, and keep a couple for myself.

My latest delivery, a what appears to be new in box (was listed as open box) Plextor PX-230A CDRW drive. Going to put it in my P3 Voodoo 5500 "millennium" system.

Where is everyone buying all of this stuff? I assume not ebay? If there is a local outlet for old hardware, how would one go about locating it?

I don't live in a good location for used electronics so I have to buy from eBay.

A silverback nerd such as myself hunts in a territory of about 50 square miles, seeking his prey in thrift stores and yard sales.

.. come to think of it, church (or similar organisations) bazaars and rummage sales around here are highest "hit" rate, something like one in three will have something interesting. Got a PS/1 PC330 486 at one 6 or 7 months ago. Ham radio fleamarkets are worth paying admission for, you'll usually see something, and some have too much to decide what to bring home.

eBay I use for bits and pieces, mainly just gone obsolete stuff at the moment, it's just at junk pricing. If I really, really need a perfect thing to complete something I could see myself paying a bit.... but the silverback nerd is a wily hunter, he will wait until his prey is at it's weakest, even if it means following it for long periods of time, and then when it is complacent, he will strike.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

I was running low on 3.5" FDDs so I grabbed 4 of them for 8 bucks. 2 beige, 2 black. Yeah, black 😒 But I guess I can replace the facplates with ones from dead floppy drives or paint them.

Black ones are actually more valuable, because they're more rare.
What brands? Sony MPF920 by any chance? Could give ya beige plates in exchange. 😁

One of the black floppies is indeed a Sony, it has a strange faceplate with a round activity light. The others are Alps and Mitsumi like I guessed.

^this, not only ebay, but ebay from another country so I have to pay double shipping on top 😒 but that's the only way.
it is very rare that anything interesting pops up for sale locally.

There’s a seller on eBay with a pile of these. I had this exact, boxed, model a couple of years ago, but I sold it. I regretted it, of course. Fortunately, I was afforded a 2nd chance at a great price. (Don’t be afraid to make the seller an offer.)

Tested and works great. A solid performing PCI video card to keep on hand.

This 286 accelerator (aka "The Accelerator 286") for XT. It's in perfect visual condition and seems to work, although when I tested it in this Commodore Colt (which is another vintage hardware I "bought today") I got some memory errors (not present otherwise) - may be it's only compatible with slower XTs or something... I will test it in a proper XT clone (or just in 5160) some other time.

IBM-branded Plextor Ultraplex Wide for $25 shipped with a 1-year warranty (take that for whatever it's worth from an Ebay seller): https://www.ebay.com/itm/174643345507

NOS is going for $200+, so I'll take my chances for $25

I grabbed 3 of them last year. I thought "I'm not gonna see such a good deal on a brand new, upper end, (for PCI) PCI graphics card any time soon" ... I'm super surprised he didn't sell out in a week or two, ppl must think it's a scam or something. I do know there's maybe a couple more cards existing, like the 9500GT I also have one of, in PCI versions that are better, but finding them is hard.

Such and odd card to see in PCI form, how does it stack against its AGP variant ?

does the PCI bus slow it down or does it still keep on trucking and put out great numbers ?

Maybe I'm making a fool of myself, but is there any practical use for such a card? The only I can think of is mainboards with onboard graphics and no AGP slot, or connecting three monitors. But who needs that nowadays?

They are not cards you would keep in a PC, more useful for testing and stress testing after OS install, then once you are happy you take it out and throw in the GPU you do want to keep in there . .then the 6200 moves back to the testing shelf.

Its a solid proven GPU that you keep just because you know it works and doesnt require any extra power and pretty much any OS will work with it right out of the box. (I would also keep an AGP and PCIe version of it around for just the same reason, three known working GPUs just for testing)

There's a handlful of super7 and tualatin boards that were "blessed" with onboard graphics rather than an AGP slot.... and I've got an Atom board I might try one on too.
