I gots a microwave, it makes reheated frozen ready cooked food just as good as most ~$20-50 a plate chain restaurants make reheated frozen ready cooked food.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

The very first Ethernet card I ever owned. LNE100TX, although this one is several revisions later than mine. Very nice.

At my Goodwill they would sooner throw it away than sell it for leas than $20. Maybe more.

They won't negotiate on the price of anything even if it's broken.

Contrary to what their marketing says, they are a for-profit company and not a charity.

I don't know anything personally, but I've read a lot of terrible stories about the business from people who have worked there.

Oof that sucks. I kind of hate Goodwill actually, they are like the snooty thrift store. Taking all the good stuff and selling it on their online auction site. The smaller thrift stores are all dying out too. They used to be everywhere and now I only know of 2 or 3 that aren't goodwill and I live in a huge city.

What? if they are for-profit, why do they give me a receipt I can use for tax deduction purposes whenever I donate?

It says right on their website:

GOODWILL INDUSTRIES INTERNATIONAL IS A 501(C)(3) NONPROFIT REGISTERED IN THE US UNDER EIN: 53-0196517

I purchased a ZEROtherm NV-120 to replace a ZEROTherm CF-900 cooler in an Intel system with Q9550 LGA 775. Barely fit the case and I didn't know it had a blue LED but works fine.

Is the NV-120 better than a Zalman CNPS9500 I have in another LGA 775 board?

I did some research and you are correct. They are a non-profit. This seems to be a common misconception that has been circulating for some time but in my case, like many others it would seem, accept this as fact due to personal experience. I guess nonprofits can be just as scummy as everyone else.

To add a personal anecdote, when I moved to college I went to the local Goodwill to shop on a budget. One of the things I had in my cart was a collection of kitchen mixing bowls. At checkout the person ringing up my items exclaimed that this wasn't the right price or it was priced too low or something (this was years ago) and would not honor the price tag on the item and told me I had to pay some other price. In response, I told him that unless he honored the price on the item I wouldn't be buying anything. Unsurprisingly, I left with nothing, and I'm sure the employee could have cared less.

There were plenty of other students that needed things and someone else would buy these things. But it goes to show how there are employees who carry themselves at this company as if it's their own personal garage sale.

There are lots of other thrift stores that are better. But in my opinion it doesn't take much effort to provide better service than Goodwill.

I bought a Radeon 9700 Pro with some kind of "demo" sticker on it branded by Planar. I don't think the board itself is a demo but rather it was pulled from some larger demo unit. The dual DVI configuration seems to be uncommon.

It looks like the card originally had VGA for the second connector, and that was replaced by a board that connects to the feature connector with the second DVI connector. The card with the extra DVI connector on it has an ATI part number, so maybe it was an option that very few people heard of 😀

See my graphics card database at www.gpuzoo.com
Constantly being worked on. Feel free to message me with any corrections or details of cards you would like me to research and add.

I won an MSI GeForce FX 5900 with a Zalman VNF-100 for well below the average selling price. There were a lot of bids but I was the only one to try sniping it as it ended.

The FX 5900 is a nice card but I'm actually more interested in the cooler. A lot of the higher end FX series cards are double slot. Having the cooler wrap around gives more flexibility for cramming cards into a small form factor case.

It's a Dell FireGL X1-128 (this may be a colloquial name, I've seen it called a few different things.) Dell's FRU code of 09Y130 is another good indicator of this, the Dell 9700 Pro is 00U896 and 9700 TX is 07T753.
