Actually spiders dosnt bother me but as it really was Black Widow looking and Black Widow sized I reached for a newspaper to give it a smack, the thing is I could not find the (hopefully) flat spider after I tried to smash it.

I have not yet managed to test the stuff from the Italian recycling center/dump/roadside yet as I also got some not as "dirty and rusty" hardware in some other packages the last couple of days.

Next time: smack the hardware and picture the spider! 🤣

A pair of socket 370 Celerons, I think the 1.4 is a Tualatin and last of that breed, may be I'll open that one if I find a good ISA mobo to go with it.

I'm sure to a lot of folks on here, seeing these things boxed is old hat, but it's always wild to me seeing this old hardware in its original packaging. 😀

The guy I bought this couple from had also a bunch of brand new in box Intel D810emo , but not only I think the mobo is pretty bad also it doesn't support these processors afaik, otherwise it would have been cool.

Bought an Intel D8087-1 math coprocessor (from eBay) to fit in my XT build...hope it works.

it does support the 900mhz celeron, but not the tualatin.

I bought two Lucky Star LS486E REV C1 Socket 3 motherboards from Ukraine a couple of months ago, while these work they can hardly be described as beeing in mint condition. A week ago I bought yet another Lucky Star LS486E REV C1, this time from Russia and this board is in perfect condition. The board was reasonable priced, came with an AMD 5x86p75 CPU and managed to slip though the evil customs net. 😀

🤣 the reason I'm getting this chip is mostly superficial...I just have to fill that slot 🤣...but I am looking forward to trying out Falcon with this for which the co-processor may help a bit with speed.

I have played Falcon 3.0 and 4.0 on my newer builds and really enjoy that game. I would love to see how the old XT version fares.

Yes that is what new AT boards usually are sold with, used boards normally come without any cables at all though.

due to the Radeon X1900XT in my HP XW4400 machine having thermal issues (it keeps on freezing , and I know its not the temps in the machine itself) I went and replaced the card with a Radeon X1950XTX 512MB.

for whatever reason , the screws on the connectors were missing, but some extra screws from cheap donor cards did fine (thanks TNT2 M64 , you have a use apparently), and the card also needed a clean, but otherwise works fine.

Very fast DX9 card, its the fastest native DX9 card from ATI as far as I know . I suspect the 7950 GX2 will be somewhat faster in most games, but I doubt it will work correctly with this proprietary HP motherboard.

It's an i810 board - they're all crap as they don't offer AGP slots.

I finally managed to get one of these:

This is the AMI Fast Disk caching SCSI controller with a 386sx CPU. It seems to be one of the better SCSI controllers for VL bus. It hasn't arrived yet, but I still need to figure out which system I can stick it in anyway. Paid 24USD with free shipping.

I also picked up an Adaptec AHA-1522B ISA controller. This one does not do DMA, which I'm hoping will work better with 486DLC CPUs. Paid 20RMB.

I don't have a hybrid 386DX/486 motherboard at the moment, but I do have an IBM 486SLC2 motherboard with VLB slots. I'm not sure if it would work, but I'm going to give it a try.

I'm very sad because I had to junk one of these because of battery corrosion 🙁 the only reason I let it go was because I found another VLB system recently, but it's not a hybrid. Am definitely on the lookout for a VLB caching controller now anyway.

My turn to rant: why is it so bloody hard to buy a laptop keyboard on eBay? Every one I order either seems to arrive damaged, never show up at all, be damaged by the seller prior to postage, or just sees the order cancelled with no explanation!!!! This is across multiple sellers and multiple laptops made by differing brands!
