286: Socket on top is for 287. BIOS are those in the middle with the stickers. Bottom right are memory chips, some are missing. It may right now have 768kB where only 512kB can be used.
486: We can already see that the cache sockets are green from the battery leak, it may have severe damage.
Pentium: RTC and BIOS are missing.

Edit: memory size was wrong

All right, so it looks like that 286 might be the easiest one to revive (i can't see battery leak). That Intel RTC probably would be something like this http://www.aliexpress.com/item/KS82C6818A/156 … archweb201560_8 cause it has external battery.

Is that ISA card in the middle a network card or a modem? (i think it looks like RJ45, not RJ11, so network). Maybe I will get at least a working network card for my low-profile desktop AT case.

Socket 7 board is also missing keyboard connector. A BIOS from a similar board might work with it, but you have to wonder why it was gutted for parts in the first place.

I'd go with the ISA card being an ISDN adapter or a dial-up modem.

I thought that there were two PS/2 ports instead of DIN connector.

I'm like 90% certain I have that EXACT socket 7 board in my "PILE" of spare parts. I'll try to get around to pulling it out and looking at the chips for ya.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

Somebody robbed the 9-pin connector from the Hercules card... The communications card looks like ISDN (fritzcard or so). The Socket 7 board seems to have two PS2 connectors for keyboard and mouse instead of a DIN keyboard connector.

Could anyone identify these mainboards before I get them shipped? I'm particularly interested in that Socket 3 mainboard. I hope there won't be too much damage from possible battery leak. And it looks that it's missing cache memory. And that 286 is probably missing three logic chips and BIOS.

Have fun restoring the 486! Funny that the 286 is probably in better condition. You can get DS12887 chips for the socket 7 quite cheaply on eBay at the moment.

Edit: scratch the above - missed 3v cell.

A lot of 7 ISA sound cards arrived today. I paid about $20 for everything, shipped. The two most interesting cards are below.

The first is one that could get a lot of use. I think it is one usually attributed to Diamond and has a sticker on the back that says it is model MF-009. However, there are multiple cards with this model number with completely different chipsets. What I like about this one is the real OPL3 and a well-placed DB header for a full-sized DB. The only full-sized DB I have is a Waveblaster II, and it did not fit on smaller OPL3 cards such as those based on the YMF-719. So, in order to avoid the hanging note bug, you need to find a CT1747 or a DSP 4.05 SB16. I just tested this card with the hexen -warp 02 test, and it does not have the hanging note bug. It uses the Opti 924 chipset for SB Pro compatibility. I think this one is a keeper.

EDIT: I think this is the Super Sound Origins by SIC Resource. Archive.org has the original webpage and even the drivers!

The other card will go in my ISA sound card with wavetable thread. ISA Sound Cards with Internal Wavetable
It is based on the Opti 925, which uses Opti's OPL3 clone. Not good. It uses the QDSP QS702/QS703 patch set for GM, but the controller is an Opti/QDSP 82C941. The GM is quite different from the QS700 or QS1000 that often goes with this patch set.

EDIT: This is the Super Sound Origins 32W-3D, I believe.

Oh, god, an MC-202. Had an MC-303 between 2004 and 2007... Worst piece of shit I ever used and it actually went moldy by the time I got rid of it. I heard the 202 was better and I sure hope it was for your sake, it does come from a time when Roland were making semi-decent hardware, so perhaps it will be. I doubt they could fuck up a single channel CV/Gate device too badly anyway. I heard they got the job done anyway. The 303 on the other hand, was unreliable and had very limited features. Hated my Yamaha gear anyway.

^^ The 202 is completely different, it's essentially an SH101 with a step sequencer & some really nice sync-out options. Made in 1982. The synth part is all analog.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the MC-303, but for some reason a lot of people expect it to be way more than it is & get disappointed with it. I dunno if that was your experience but I like them. I would grab another if it popped up for a decent price (<$200.)

The later MC* grooveboxes are some seriously nice pieces of gear, after they got the basic ideas of the groovebox format ironed out. The 303 was a bit of a test case.

I guess it is 92mm fan, actual diameter is 85mm. This Zalman design was very popular back in the day, there still exist many similar heatsinks.

Picked up a few more items over the last couple of weeks. This is my second boxed PAS16 but the box is in better shape than my previous. The Videologic Apocalypse 3Dx is my second boxed version as well, but this one has the complete software bundle that was missing in the first.

The last two I've been hunting down for a while now. The first is the original Videologic Apolocalypse 3D, the NEC PowerVR PCX1-based card in the original box. The second is the vanilla (Non-Gamer, etc.) version of the Creative 3D Blaster TNT2 Ultra card - sealed! This one was an important card for me back in 1999, as it's the one card that moved me off of my 12Mb x 2 Diamond Monster 3D II SLI setup. I was a faithful 3DFX owner since my Orchid Righteous 3D and this was an impulse buy during my sophomore year of college (way out of my price range for the time for my college 'budget'!)

Nice work on the boxed PAS16 Artex! I've been looking for one for years! Where did you find it if you don't mind my asking? And more importantly, how's the kid?

Things are going well - 6 weeks old already!! She's slowly sleeping longer through the night so that's good. Not much time for anything else (had to sneak away to ge these pictures taken!) Thanks for asking btw!

I found a local seller on eBay who had two of them and I knocked him down a bit on price.
