Very interesting. Some questions please -

Regarding Matrox, I have a G2+ (aka G200) - are these any good / just as good as the G400? (Please note I am just interested in DOS games.)

I also have a G450, but the DVI-based image output is 'strange' in as much as I can't seem to use a digital cable without the image looking very squashed in the centre of the LCD. I have to use a DSUB 15 pin adaptor gadget, and use a VGA cable instead.

Regarding S3 Trio64 or Virge variants - I have a Diamond Stealth 2000 3D Pro, which uses S3 chipset. Given this, is there no point in me also looking around for any S3 Trio64 card?

For a 486 mobo, would a good idea be to get one with a PCI slot, to avoid having to find a VLB graphics card?

Finally, please note I also have a Voodoo3 and it is PCI based.

Thanks a lot, best regards, Robert.

You seem to have enough cards that are good. The Diamond Stealth 3D 2000 Pro has the S3 Virge/DX. It's a keeper.

Once again, what are you trying to achieve? If you want to build one system that will handle all DOS games from the late 80's to late 90's perfectly, it's not going to happen.

I am trying to achieve the following -

Build 2 retro PCs that will handle DOS games from this period:

1991 to 1997.

(I have other plans for win9x games from 1995 to 2002.)

Thanks, regards, Robert.
