Got a S3 Trio64v+ in a P2 based mobo. Seems to work great in DOS mode, either "real DOS", or "win9x dos". But if I try and install a windows driver for it, either in 95 or 98, the computer freezes when the desktop is displayed.

Also, I tried a totally clean re-install of '95, and it froze on the "searching for plug and play devices" section.

Something appears to be wrong with this card, but it seems for windows 9x only. DOS functionality appears unaffected.

Strange. 😖

This demo http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=1524 can make use of the S3 accellerator in DOS mode. Choose S3 accellerator and a video mode with 640 or more pixels width. If it doesn't work then the card is probably faulty...

I once faced lock-up problems when two video cards were installed under win9x.
Works well, if I disable one card. Usually a 3dfx card interfering with a nvidia card.

As for the S3 Trio64V+ itself, I just love it when it comes to dos games! 😁
