This is NOT necessary when you've got a wavetable DB installed and the MIDI emulation via AWEUTIL will indeed cause many games to crash.

Nope - Im running AWEUTIL /S only. But I do load "SET MIDI=SYNTH:1 MAP:E MODE:0" line in autoexec. I'll remove it and see if that fixes the problem.
