I am testing an Asus PVI-486 SP3 rev 1.22, which can be found here -

http://stason.org/TULARC/pc/motherboards/A/AS … PVI-486SP3.html

I notice on that webpage, there's a "CPU VOLTAGE CONFIGURATION" section, allowing you to choose from either 3.45v or 3.6v. Looking at my 486 CPUs, I don't think I've got any that matches those two options. I've got some which are 3.3v, 4v and 5v, but not 3.45v or 3.6v. Does this mean I will need to get a CPU from ebay that exactly matches one of these two voltages?

Thanks a lot for any help. 😀

Set it to 3.45V for 5V cpu's...I think the real manual states that...sadly Asus has removed manual and bios updates from their webpage for the 486 boards 🙁
486DX2's are 5V cpu's

Thanks very much Amigaz! 😁

It's a pity that Asus decided to remove that stuff. I wonder how much storage space it was taking up? Probably very little. IMHO, removing information like that only worsens their reputation, and IMHO I would describe this action as a "false economy".

From their webpage, yes, but it's still on FTP:
ftp://ftp.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/sock5/486sp3/
The file pvi_486sp3.zip contains a PDF with the manual (badly scanned and incomplete, though).
According to the manual, the 3.6V setting is only needed for that weird Cyrix DX2-V CPU, all others should work with the standard 3.45V setting.
However, I'd like to add that selecting the higher voltage helps with overclocking (i486DX4 @ 120 MHz, 5x86 @ 160 MHz). On older revisions of the 486SP3, the voltage converter may not be up to the task.

Thanks very much for everyone's awesome assistance! 😁

I treble-checked all of the jumpers, popped in an Intel i80486 DX2-66 CPU, and she boots up without any fuss! 😁

Edit: I ran speedsys, and I get a score of 5145 for my modern Seagate HDD plugged in to the mobo's onboard IDE port, which is very fast! 😀
