MX300 works fine in Win98, for both windows and DOS games. If I reboot to go in to pure DOS mode, the SB Pro emulation driver au30dos.com appears to load successfully. If I then run a sound setup utility associated with a DOS game, that also appears to work OK, but I hear no sound at all. If I restart the machine to go back in to windows 98 again, and run the same DOS sound setup utility, again it seems to work fine, and I also hear both sound effects and music.

Currently, the MX300 seems to be configured to use IRQ 5, and DMA 1 and 3. Inside the mobo's BIOS, I can choose whether the IRQs are either PCI/PnP or ISA/EISA. Similarly, I can choose whether the DMAs are either PnP or ISA/EISA. Is the key to solving this mystery to mess about with these settings, or is there something else wrong do you think? Please note - the mobo's BIOS setting of "PnP Aware O/S" is currently set to Yes.

Any ideas please people? Thanks a lot. 😀
