I've been jamming a screwdriver against mobo power pins for ages now, and so far I've not managed to break anything. But there must be a better, safer way of doing this.

I need a simple switch to cover two power pins on an ATX powered mobo, so that I can activate the mobo without using a screwdriver. Has anyone seen something like this for sale on ebay, for instance?

I would just snag a small header 2-pin that has something useless attached to it.. like a speaker or something, cut it off, and attach a momentary on switch to it.

Indeed, or just snatch some reset or power switch assembly from an obsolete computer case.
Whenever I decide to throw away certain hardware it is my habit to pillage and desolder any useful components it contains first.

Well, if you insist...

😎

Though I somehow prefer using what gerwin suggested, probably due to the longer cord it comes with.
(these things are tiny, easily lost on a busy test bench... 😖 )
