There's another V5 on ebay here -

but it could be defective - that "coil thing" on the right looks bashed.

Yeah i saw that too... i'm going to stay clear of that one!

Anyway the seller has offered me a full refund and just told me to bin the card! Obviously i'm going to see if any of the techs over at EAB or Amibay can fix it as i don't have the right tools to do a "tidy" job with surface mounted components 😒

It looks like it's still attached, ask for a close up photo.
Or if it's cheap enough buy it anyway and if it works you have a nice bonus.

Could be worth a go i suppose... I've contacted the seller and will wait for a reply 😀

Will there not be a driver conflict when using both a V5 and V2? Or will i need some kind of software switcher?

Nope. You don't even need software switcher (although such thing is nice to have). The game will choose which Voodoo based on which version of glide2x.dll (or glide2x.ovl) being put in the game's folder.

Never thought this thread would be that long, but now, for something different.....

I suppose now would be a bad time to say that I just got a V5-5500 for free?

(By the way: Thanks, BigBodZod!!!)

That was nice of the seller to refund with no expectation of return. If you're handy with a soldering gun, you can always try to re-cap it. (Although surface mount are tricky little bastards...)

Your very lucky 😀

My soldering tools are no good for SMD parts... it may end up looking messy! Anyway i'm looking for another V5 and have a "Wanted" thread here: Re: Wanted: 3DFX Voodoo 5 5500 AGP
