Does anyone know of a list of multi-player games that are no longer supported and any attempts by the players to provide emulated servers to make those games playable again?

Aliens vs Predator 2

Master server got shut down 1 or 2 years ago, then someone made a new master server. I have no idea if that game's still alive though. Fabulous gameplay!! 😁

Sorry, it's the only game I know of, never heard of any lists before.

Has anyone tried Hamachi? - A VPN solution.

The full functioning free version is good enough. (Something like kali/kali95 - remember these?).

I and my buddy here used to play Duke Nukem 3D's DukeMatch over the internet using this Hamachi, by selecting the Network play via Setup. Works like charm! 😀

We vogoners can even have our own network sessions with any of these classic games!

Setup a server or join a server at will. All we need now is to keep real-time connection before play via any messenger, to get ready for a session, setup and start playing!

It's time to relive the father of all Deathmatches -DOOM!!! 😁

I always thought they should make those multi player games peer to peer instead of relying a central server to be playable. If the games were all peer to peer we wouldn't have to worry about support being discontinued.

Steamless Counter-Strike Project

This uses the so-called "WON2" server. It works nicely, too. And works with all Steamless HL MODs.

(Forgive me for hijacking this thread! This thread reminds me of Hamachi.) 😁

If you're looking for older games with network multiplayer support, Hamachi will fill the void. Including Half-Life, you can play the network game over the net. This is really peer-to-peer gaming. Whether DOS games or the W9x ones, both will work. I and my buddies used to play the Starcraft, Warcraft III and Diablo II networked game, without Battle.net in terms of W9x games.
