that finally convinced you that home computer gaming hardware had finally caught up with dedicated arcade gaming hardware?

For me it was C&C. When I first saw a friend playing NOD and running into a Mammoth tank I drooled 🤣!
Before that I was also impressed with Dune2.
Then again, during that time I'd always wanted a PC 😀
Not sure if this is really on topic, but atleast this is how I got into PC gaming 😀
