They were fun to read about, they usually sucked for DOS, and they were unbelievably expensive (like >$400). Some of them were literally chipsets, with the main chip for Windows and a secondary for VGA, and both had its own RAM.
Off the top of my head...

-Number Nine Imagine 128
-S3 Vision 968-based (ie #9 Motion 771)
-Weitek P9x00-based (ie Diamond Viper VLB)
-ATI Mach64 (Graphics Pro Turbo)
Anybody buy one of these babies new? 😁 I've used the Viper VLB and Motion 771 personally but I got one free and one for cheap off Usenet.
