I have a box (rather dusty one) that has about 20 to 30 S3 Trio64V+ cards in it, I believe they work.

Sure, list them on eBay. There are people trying to sell these cards for up to $144 each!!! 🤣

He should ask the guy selling them for $144 if he wants to buy his for $10 each.

Or to make money on your own ask him to sell that stuff to you for $5 and then you can sell them for $10 each to the ebay guy, that's how you make profit 😉

Wow, so these are actually worth something? My dad (he was cleaning out hi attic) was just going to throw these away.

Well, they're not actually worth that much unless someone is willing to pay it. People list a lot of things for ridiculous prices on ebay hoping someone who doesn't know any better will hit the Buy It Now button. The lowest price one I recall seeing was only $20.

Edit: I was wrong. It was even lower than that.

$12.95 and free shipping. That's probably nearer to the actual value.

Definitely keep those, they were cheap and very common in the old days, but they are good as their compatibility is good. I think everyone should have at least a couple of the old S3 PCI cards in the house 😉

Could always sell them if you need cash for some other project of yours 😉
But it's handy to keep like 10 around if you don't have any spare Virges 😉

Why not just sell them all and buy Virges with the money? Surely Virges would be more useful than Trios.

I thought that the virge is the same chip having some 3D support added. Which isn't that much more useful, I guess.

But otoh Virge often comes with 4MB while Trio often comes with 2MB 😉
(That, and "Virge" sounds a lot *cough* better/nicer then a "Trio" *scrapes throat*)
