1. Has anyone ever had problems running SpeedSys on IBM/Cyrix 6x86MX CPUs? I ran SS 4.78 from a bootable floppy disk formatted in WinXP (SS reports DOS version 8.0) on a PR233 and a PR300 (ATrend ATC-1030 mainboard) and each time it hanged at "Reading MSRs". I didn't have time to test this on my two other socket7 mainboards, but as far as I know MSRs are CPU-related...

2. Does anyone know how the CPU speed index is calculated? I get the exact same value for two identical CPUs on the same mainboard, or for the same CPU on two mainboards, there seems to be absolutely no variation with chipset or memory amount or type (SDRAM/EDO)...

I think there is something you can disable in the BIOS. I remember someone telling me on this forum and it indeed worked.

It was some setting related to the CPU. So take a look in the BIOS and see what you can find.
