Amazing, will do this mod this weekend. Have 3 Tillamooks (266) and every single socket 7 chipset. I really hope this works on an Ali V based board!

Will report back ofcourse...

Clock to clock it goes 100% the same as pentium MMX 266... (the same jumper settings but voltage).
Motherboard is GA-586ATX4 with 128MB ram and ARC Logic 2000pv graphics.

I don't use Phil's pack, so I'm not really sure what the changes he added to the batch file. Perhaps locate the speedsys.exe file from within the pack and run it directly from the DOS promopt.

EMM386 was on that's why theese test couldn't perform.
Here goes diagrams… so it seems that on TX it also works!

Did you do the 4x multi mod too? And how did you select the 4x multi on that gigabyte board, using the 2x setting?

I'm busy with this today, post results very soon also.

Ok, i am stupid (but maybe that served a purpose on this one..). As I completely overlooked the second bridge on the picture so i ONLY! did the one in the corner (with the tape in between the pins).

Grabbed an A-Trend atc-5200 Via Mvp3 board that i know will post with a Tillamook but locks up during post when L2 is enabled. Worked straight away! Only did speedsys test by booting from a Gotek floppy emulator but L2 works fine. The 4x multi did NOT work as the pinout is a bit different from the normal mmx cpu so i went on and did the 4x multi mod.

(4x multi mod can be found here: Fastest Socket 7 board?) just connect BF2 to NC next to it.

Tested again and also set it at a 100mhz fsb and it worked at 400mhz with L2 2,2V! Did one run of speedsys fine and wouldn't boot anymore after that at 100fsb.... not even 3,5x 😐 😕
Worked fine at 66fsb again after a bios reset but no more 100fsb.... weird stuff and maybe the mobo acts up?

Anyway, went on testing and this is what i got so far, testing only confirmed with speedsys:

A-Trend atc-5200 : Did post before and does work fine with L2 and 4x multi
Asus P5A-B: Did not post before and does not post now.
Asus SP97-V: Did post before without L2 and now runs fine with L2 and also the 4x multi works
Asus TX97-E: Did not pst before and does not post now.
Asus TX97-XE: Did post before and posts now with L2 into Dos but after that it locks up starting speedsys (runs fine without L2!). Also 4x multi not working!? funny one...
Asus P55T2P4: I did not test this before but does work with L2 now. 4x multi NOT working and board became ''vague'' during testing/modding (see below).
Gigabyte GA-5AA: booted before without L2 and now runs fine with L2! Did not go higher as 3,5x 100fsb but it runs pretty fast like that. Will test at 4x and at that it will be the fastest option so far, even beating the mvp3 speedsys scores (as it comes close at 350mhz).

But i have to re-do the 4x mod first... During testing on the P55T2P4 (rev 3.10 , Intel 430HX) the 4x multi mod did not work (3.5 max and 2x didn't work as 4x also). So i went back to the soldering iron and ''completed'' the cpu mod as i saw that i forgot a bridge looking at the picture again. So now i had the complete mod + the 4x multi mod. The P55T2P4 would not even post any more, black screen... testing with a regular 233mmx went fine, and inserting the Tillamook again gave a black screen all over.

Quickly undid the 4x mod as maybe it collided with the other mod? Without the 4x mod still no post! Undid the last bridge from the cpu mod and yes, it booted again! But ever since it will not run speedsys and acts exactly like the TX97-XE, it goes further as without the mod but locks in dos. While it worked before... 😵 Runs speedsys fine without L2... probably broke something?

After that i tested the Gigabyte and the cpu was still working fine after all this with only the single mod done (the one with the tape in between).

SOOOOOOO, far from complete and needs a lot more testing (including OS etc.) but i can confirm it works!!! Not on every socket 7 or super 7 board but at least on some as long as they at least post without L2.

Not done yet and will later on test with:

Asus P5A
Asus TX97
Gigabyte GA-5AX
Epox Mvp3-c, Mvp3-m
Aopen AX59 Pro
DFi K6BV3+/66

Very nice that mankind finally figured out how this chip works in socket 7 mainboards 😊
I have one modded chip working on DFI K6BV3+ at 400 MHz (4x100). Unfortunately the board does not allow higher bus speeds.

Also got this weird 300 MHz example. L2 cache is working without any mods. Sadly it does not overclock well. No chance of reaching something faster than ~370 MHz .

There was a sample 300 MHz Tillamook? Or is the sample is a P55C pre-Tillamook? Where did this sample come from? I assume it was for laptops.

Were you able to run Quake at 400 MHz?

This question may have been answered earlier, but does the 4x mod work with pre-Tillamook, P55C chips? Do all boards need the 4x mode to run at 4x? Does the Tillamook always need the 4x mod for 4x operation? So much scattered information, its hard to keep it all straight.

Plan your life wisely, you'll be dead before you know it.

This SSPEC denotes a production part. I have the same CPU, but sadly in a mobile module instead of a Socket 7 interposer so I can't test it.

I have a 233 built into this green interposer and a 233 and a 266 in a bog standard Socket 7 PPGA package. These work in both my Acorp 5ALI61 and 5TX29 but only with no L2 cache (and 3.5x multi). I did no modding as I keep them in a display cabinet and play with a P55C capable of 300MHz when I feel the need of some PMMX.

Yes, there was a 300mhz part but it is not very common and as far as i know it only came in that weird package, not the same looks as the normal mmx cpu's. I wonder what the voltage is of that one?

No, the mod does not work on a normal mmx cpu. The pinout of the tillamook is so that the bf2 (a multiplier pin) is moved one place, therefor it does not work on a normal mobo. Connecting it to the right pin (is a NC or Not Connected pin) will fix this.

I THINK without the multi mod the 4x setting does not work (looks like that with mine) but Batyra has it running at 266mhz also so i would like to hear from him if he did the 4x mod or not?
On boards with Intel chipset so far the 4x mod does not work, other boards are fine. But maybe his board does not need the mod?

Yup, 300MHz Tillamook was a real thing, unfortunately only as surface mount.
This particular one is on a Chinese/Taiwanese PGA adapter. I think CPU-World refers to these as "golden tigers", not sure why.

Maybe in reference to the American fighter aces who flew in China during WWII. 300MHz Tillamook= the ace of the P5, on a Chinese adapter. 😀

I have one of those 300mhz models (SL34N), which is a surface mount model on a pga adapter.
Some of them are called Golden Tigers because a big batch of 266mhz models where used in china with a gold topcover that had a 300mhz marking on them.
All those Golden Tiger where fake 300mhz models and long time nobody believed "real" 300mhz Tillamooks where around.
