One minute, my lovely Amstrad brand AdLib clone was singing away in my 286 box. Next minute, all I can hear from it is "computer thinking" sounds, with the actual FM sounds a distant echo in the background.

Every little thing the computer does, HDD access, floppy seek, keystrokes, moving graphics, etc... all have a little squeak or chirp from the headphone socket on the poor little card.

Any ideas what could be wrong with it? I'm going to replace the 5 or so electrolytic caps, but beyond that I have no idea.

I am pretty sure that when you replace the caps all those probs will go away

A bit OT but I had a similar issue with three SB 2.0 cards. Really loud "computer thinking" noise and distant FM tunes.

However in my 486 they work just fine!

It's still a mystery to be honest...
