Back in the old days a German magazine PC magazine was always recommending the S3 Trio 64V+. I also got one of these cards and all I remember is that everything worked.
i guess most nv cards from riva128 to geforce3 perform well in dos games, compatibility has rarely been a problem for them.
however, my doom benchmark results showed that geforce4 and 5 are a lot slower than previous models, only 50-60% as fast as geforce3. fortunately, its still around 5 times as fast as rendition cards. 🤣

This table makes me want to suggest S3's paired with a Voodoo1 for a DOS only machine. And stick a fanless TNT/TNT2 or Voodoo3 in the AGP slot. Here is a claim for a Windows 3.1 driver for Voodoo3. For 2D acceleration and higher res only I'm sure.

Then dual monitor it. One monitor on the AGP card of your choice, and another on the S3/Voodoo pair. Either way, I hope that table above is helpful.
I used to have one of those cards (specifically an ASUS 3DExplorer of some kind), but an idiot "friend" of mine destroyed it. 😜

Careful -- IIRC pre-Savage S3 cards only work as primary cards.
