I'm trying to find BIOS for these.

So any help would be nice.

Thanks.

Yes i know that. I'm looking for PC Version of Rage 128GL Bios and PC Version of Rage 128 Pro.

What he means is different card makers used their own BIOS files with different settings. There is no universal BIOS file that works with all Rage 128 cards.

i don't think there aren't many rage128 cards made by card makers other than ati.
but even for cards made by ati, there are many different variants of circuit layouts, that's what i am refering to

For example you could get it here...

http://www.vgamuseum.info/index.php/component … ti-rage-128-pro

But unless you are 100% sure what you're doing you'll just brick the crad, there are over 50 variants of the RAGE series and even more BIOS versions and most are not cross compatible.

Thank you very much. The link you gave was very,very interesting.

unfortunately i can't find RAGE 128 GL Bios for PCI. I suppose it was a MAC version only.

I tried to load the AGP bios but the card didn't boot.

Just tried this myself after realizing I could VNC in and with an old version of Graphiccelerator I could fix a badly flashed Rage 128 Pro 16MB. Tried many different PC BIOSes but none of them worked. Either due to different card workings, the fact that it had a DVI socket or the fact it had a 128KB ROM that messes with address mappings. Either way, I reflashed it and it's now working on Macs which is nice considering I thought I'd bricked it and it'd refuse to flash on a PC. Not that I need it now anyway as my G4 has a PC 9800 PRO flashed to Mac 😀

Isn’t it called the ati Xpert 128 on pc?

http://www.vgamuseum.info/index.php/cpu/item/ … ati-rage-128-gl
this page is curiously missing any refernce to the pci but there are many other referencse to its existance elsewhere on the net;

I’d love to figure out the tight bios because my p75 with Radeon 7000 kind of sucks I’d rather run it on rage 128 for proper driver support in windows 3.1 / 95
as it is i always get a VXD error when booting up with the radeon 7000.

would be so simple if you read the ATI part number off the back of the card and put it here. My memory is kinda bad but I thought they all started with 102 or somthing first 3 digits? and the whole number is 11-12 digits long. That may you dont make us guess trying to helpp you.

Does it have a socketed DIL BIOS ROM? If so, you can remove the chip and reprogram it with your desired BIOS.

I bought some weeks ago a reader/writer for EEPROMs and tested it with my motherboard's BIOS chip. It worked really well, and this software even has a Linux port: https://github.com/radiomanV/TL866

i actually made another post over on msfn.org
https://msfn.org/board/topic/179556-looking-f … comment-1167642
i forgot to put the pic of the card; its very common because all powermac g3 b+W shipped with it as far as i know

attached is the photo
as u can see it is not socketed; and the p/n in the photo says: 109-57400-00
my card has the same p/n but is slightly visually different in placement of the p/n number and the actual chip doesnt have a heatsink like the one pictured;
the chip itself says "logo:(graphics by Rage 128 ATI), Rage 128 GL; 215R4GASA22; PD26133; 9906AA; TAIWAN"
there are many other threads on the net about people trying to "crack this nut" to achieve the same result; (ie: make it work in a pc)
ive seen noone reporting any "SUCCESS!" posts tho;
i dont know what other flasher programs i can try that will "see" the card; probably because its a mac card;
maybe i have to try to flash it on a mac with the pc rom/bios

I honestly don't think it is possible. While there may exist PC compatible Rage 128 PCI cards, they had differn't board layouts, memory ram chips than the Apple ones thus those BIOS will not work.

If you really want a Rage 128 PCI look for Diablotek VAR128P-32P

I picked up one of these Mac Rage128GL cards as part of a lot a while back - mine is bios R128 57401. I did find an ATI support page on archive.org which lists bios revisions against chips & platforms which suggests I might be best looking for PC version 57402 or 57403 but I've no idea where I'd source these from (@chrisNova777, looks like yours might be the same vintage according to the list - link below).

As an example this card here, I cannot read the bios but this maybe a PC version of that card but it is very different. As you can see The AMC connector is stripped down. It doesn't look like a full AMC connector. Traditionally the AMC connectors were the same number of pins as a IDE. 2nd thing you notice is it has the rage Theater chip for DVD decode and capture on the PCB, where as the MAC cards you needed a daughter board that had the theater chip on it. so if you flashed your mac card with this BIOS that would probably brick your card.

I take your point, but as far as I'm concerned my card is already a brick as I don't use Macs and as they're so common on eBay their resale value is low. Also, the one you linked is a Mac card anyway.

i just know that there's A LOT of these cards floating around and a lot of people have had the same question/idea to look into whether or not they can be flashed and made to work with a PC

plus i have 2 of them and people charge way too much for PCI Video cards on ebay imho

my main reason for posting was my discovery that the ATI XPERT 128 16mb PCI
was the marketed retail product that seemed to be a match for it; same memory size; same chipset; but for WIN/PC

there's 7 of them for sale NEW on ebay ( i think in the box?)
https://www.ebay.com/itm/ATI-XPERT-128-16MB-P … gYAAOSws8RdI0PM

i thought someone would respond saying "i've got that card sitting here.." and might be able to dump the bios to a file
