And... I've just found this page:

Check the pics. Looks mighty similar to OP's card (this thread). Except that maybe that only has one CDROM interface? But everything else looks identical.

Uhuh. "Ya-ya, deathclaw..." ^__^

Exactly these features and appearance!

I wonder, does it ever sound good...

yeah, thx for feedback, Mithloraite. and for help to archsan!
drivers would be nice to have, so i could check this thingie out... maybe it doesn't pop and click 😉

Sure, please try these. The only quirk about these was it didn't work without being copied to ~real~ floppy disks. HDD copies were rejected (the second volume could not be found as I remember).
Otherwise it should work.

And it would be great to know if it could work and sound good... Yes! 😀

also I have found some 12 other AZTech model photos, with their full names. It can be hard to know it sometimes. And a number of driver packs...
If you might be interested / do have some of these to identify, please have a look:

Just noting AZTech are SO tricky for identification...
Tend not to write the model number on board. The names are hard to ascertain too 😵 And on top of this they pretend to be something else like "Packard Bell" or "Reveal" ^__^

i'll have a look, as i still have _another_ UNIDENTIFIED aztech around here! 😀
but this time with an ident-number:

I38-MMSN850
Aztech Sound Galaxy Nova 16 Extra II-3D
Chip: AZT2316-S, CS4231A, Yamaha OPL3

but didn't find a _correct_ type of it.
some websites say washington, some say nova 16 extra... what is it?
aztech ftp server doesn't list it. i could try numbers near 850 though...

thx for the drivers. where did you get them?

Amazingly it was exactly the AZTech ftp site, still running. Had Aztech soundcards grouped by "generations", 1 to 4, and quite a number of drivers...

Sound Galaxy Nova 16 Extra II-3D is also on the list 😀

In my bigger pack there is a copy of the .txt file from this ftр. It lists all four generations. NX-II is the First, Extra-II 3D is the Third.

To be sure about the model, it seems useful to compare the real look of it and the outline picture on Stason.org or any other site hosting the Total Hardware database.

It might cause some error but generally this check gets very good results.

There are "photo portraits" of the cards you mentioned in that bigger pack... So it might be a hit. I gave these names on the basis of ~well-founded~ discussions seen on various forums...
when I thought it was the case 😀

the covox speech thing and disney sound source are interesting!
the soundblaster cards don't have this feature, do they?

indeed. Aztech is pretty exclusive about this "parallel port emulation" thing.

And it really worked in some games, at least if one can set the port address for the game setup, manually.

stason.org lists the parallel "port" address for Aztech and it's the correct one! 😀

Creative never bothered to include this interesting feature.

Good they did the Chorus and Reverb effects added for the Adlib OPL FM music, in games. (in their AWE32/64 series). So they do have some merits, beside the numerous bugs...
